Azul!
Zoneu Auþorisat rises like a phoenix! After a long hiatus, we're finally back. The issue is a recap of what happened while ZA was asleep, plus some more. I wish you have a good time reading the least consistent but surely the most authentic Talossan newspaper! We have a separate e-mail now: zoneuauthorisat@inbox.ru (Too bad we don't have a special Talossan internet-domain, by the way. Why don't we get one?)Issue #5 (May 2018)Issue #4 (April 2018)Issue #3 (March 2018)Issue #2 (March 2018)

I will gladly accept criticisms, and any kind of feedback. That will help me provide more issues!

I love it. I hope you can get more contributors and make this a regular ongoing thing. Despite all the criticism and controversy regarding Bericht, I immensely enjoyed getting a Talossan newspaper every Sunday. I hope you will stick with it. Heck, I'll even try to contribute to it. (Thanks for the mention, but the first annual Spaghetti Western weekend was a disappointment. Some capguns were shot, but the grandkids got bored halfway thru "A Fistful of Dollars". Vitxalmour Conductour couldn't attend, he couldn't find a babysitter. But next year will be better.)

What was the controversy regarding Berich't? I think I kind of missed that
I'm glad you liked the paper, I'll do my best to stay around! (though, you know me, chances are slim :D)
(Well, it's nevertheless a start. We Russians have a good saying "the first pancake is always crumpled". I hope next time it will indeed be better! I kind of assumed Vit was there too to be honest.)

What was the controversy regarding Berich't? Its editor published personally abusive cartoons, and then whined and cried and stamped his feet like a little baby and yelled "OPPRESSION! BULLYING! CENSORSHIP!" when people were angry with this. You know, that odd belief that some people have that if you hide your personal abuse and bullying behind "oblique language", clearly obvious pointed statements or pseudonyms, you get a free pass from any consequences for said abuse.

Bericht betrayed the flimsiest understanding of privilege I have ever seen. Particularly in the idea that "satire" or "oppression" doesn't really apply when you are doing your absolute damndest to punch down. If it had made an attempt to punch upward, it might have had some redeeming qualities.

I see. I was thinking it was something like that that happened but I wasn't sure.
Worry not! This will never happen with Zoneu Auþorisat! (I can't draw.)

I see. I was thinking it was something like that that happened but I wasn't sure. Worry not! This will never happen with Zoneu Auþorisat! (I can't draw.) That was not what happened. I published cartoons from several cartoonists over the course of the paper, and two of them were virulently opposed to the government that was in power. Both were anonymous. As one of them told me, this was because they feared being harassed for criticizing some of the more prolific and angry citizens. Their concerns proved to be well-founded, because Miestra took personal exception to the criticism and began going to every thread in which I posted, no matter the topic, to harass me over my willingness to publish the cartoons. I thought this crossed the line, because it seemed as though she was trying to make me miserable in Talossa no matter what was being discussed -- after all, she could simply not read my paper if she wanted to avoid the cartoons, but I had no recourse to avoid her crude mockery unless I just avoided Talossa. I called it out as bullying, to which Miestra took exception. I admit I was upset, and I did beg her to "please just stop" following me around with nasty comments in every thread on the message board, but I disagree with the callous characterization above. I think that if you're going to be in government, you need to be able to bear the burden of political cartoons, even if they're anonymous and leave you no target for revenge but the publisher. They were not especially terrible, either. Read the archives of "Eric S. Mildew" or "Elo Cutor" for yourself and decide if any of them merit that kind of behavior. And I believe I made the right decision to accept anonymous submissions, and I drew a bright line at libel or falsehood: as soon as one of the cartoonists lied about a false "cartoon exchange" he'd invented, I fired him and did not publish him again. You might disagree on both points, but I would only point out that Beric'ht Talossan was and remains the most successful organization (let alone periodical!) in Talossan history, by a wide margin. It's easy to make rules about what people should do and criticize others, but to actually make something successful and build up a staff of a dozen Talossans in the process is not some sort of walk in the park. I remain extremely proud of the work of all of my contributors, grateful to everyone who subscribed, and happy to have played a role in Talossan culture. And I'll read ZA with interest.

Elo Cutor once sent Dien and AD a defamatory cartoon about me and the Talossan Observer because I didn't want to publish his stupid doodles - apparently he missed the memo on the fact that the tO was supposed to be unbiased, and also that the tO had been in a hiatus for a while anyway.
Fun times.

When I first downloaded the newest issue and tried to open it, all the pages were blank. I laughed, thinking it was an April Fools prank. Later on, I clicked on it again, and suddenly the full issue appeared. Maybe my phone was pranking me! Another excellent issue (first time I've been able to complete a Talossan crossword puzzle). I'm sorry there was no Benitian provincial activity to report on, I keep trying to whip my fellow Benitians into being active, but they largely don't pay any attention to me. I'll try to contribute something in the future (but don't hold me to that!)
