I've been doing some reading recently about some nations (Estonia among them) are offering virtual citizenship to people who live outside their borders. OR rather, a digital citizenship. And what I am wondering if why doesn't Benito do that? Essentially state that any Talossan who lives in the forner Benito catchment areas may apply for Benitian digital citizenship. This would, incumbent on their renunciation of their rights of ballot, etc, in the other province, allow them to exercise said rights in Benito. Thoughts?

Interesting. So, for example, I get a couple of my work pals interested in Talossa. They join, are assigned to Vuode province, but then can renounce Vuode and apply for Benitianship? I like it, but there are probably national laws in place somewhere that wouldn't allow this to happen. (Which I am too lazy to research and find out.) At the very least, we could offer them a dual provincial citizenship. ("Yeah, you can stay Vuodean, but, since your'e my next door neighbor, and I'm a Benitian, I'll offer you a Benitian citizenship too.")

I also wonder at what point the traditional immigration process will have to be bypassed. "Yeah, he's my pal, I vouch for him. Well, he doesn't have a computer. What do you mean, he can't be a citizen? I thought this was a "real" country. So it's only real if you have internet access? Look, the dude lives in a cabin in the woods. Hunts or grows his own food. Lives off the grid. But, by God, he's as proud a Talossan as anybody who ever logged in on Witt."

With several new prospective citizens coming from Ohio, I believe this should be discussed some more...

Burn Vuode! A minor, unobtrusive pox upon the villains that have cursed our Ohio brethren there! (Hey, I still like Lüc.)

The Catchment Area Reform Act (or whatever it was called this time around) has been a pox upon us. One of the few small groups of Talossans independently creating a unique provincial culture, and our catchment area is ripped out from under us. A lot of Ohio Benitian events and creations occur and happen without ever being mentioned on Witt, because Talossa IS A REAL COUNTRY and not all that we are doing happens to get on the internet. We have and are still in the process of creating a totally unique province, distinct from the rest. We want Ohio back. Sign in an Ohio Benitians yard says "No dogs or Vuodeans".

Maybe they should have removed Italy instead of Ohio, since more Benitians live in Ohio than Italy.

So perhaps Benito doesn't extend "citizenship" per se... but perhaps residency rights, or some other phraseology.
We take a keen interest, after all, in the lives of Diasporic Benitians and would like them to have a say in their proper homeland.
