There is now a new Privacy page on the Database. It is located here: www.talossa.ca/files/privacy.phpYou have 2 choices to access it: 1 ) Login to the database using the Login button at the top right, and then visiting the page to set your option or 2 ) Select your name in the drop down (you can search for it by typing the first few letters) If you leave the Code blank, you will be emailed your code, with a link to directly access your privacy settings, or you can manually select your username and copy-paste your code. Once logged in, you have 4 options: - I do not want any political emails - I only want politcal emails sent to all citizens via the Chancery - Have them email me via [citnumber]@talossa.ca - Reveal my actual email address ([actual email listed]) We then store that in the database. You can update as often as you want. Please note that the [citnumber]@talossa.ca emails are not working yet, but that is coming soon. The default is "I do not want any political emails" I tested out the leaving code blank thing, and I did receive an email with the privacy code, however, it was also displayed on the next page. Although I haven't done so, I'm assuming that if I were to choose another citizen's name and leave the code blank, and hit submit, his/her code would be shown on my screen and I would be able to login to and adjust their privacy settings. This probably needs to be fixed.

This is good but I have one question. Will we need to send an email to citizens informing them of the option? Otherwise we would still have a default 'no political communication.' Yes, that's on my workload this morning. I hope to send that email within the next hour or so, but I need to compose it first. Ah, that makes a lot more sense! I am the person who pushed for nationalization of the database, in part so that accusations like those you were sending my way and like so many in the past would be silended, but also, the database is one of my main claims to glory! It is the one thing I am the most proud of in Talossa, but until I set it free, it is just a personal project. Once it is nationalized and fully functional from anyone, then my biggest contribution to Talossa will be complete! Many Talossans want to be famous for their time in the PM office. I don't. A few Talossans want to reform the law, been there, done that, don't care. Now, I do reforms to improve things, but once done, I don't look back and feel like they are accomplishments. Like AD, he created El Lexhatx, but sometimes I get the feeling like his newspaper or his cases as an attorney bring him more satisfaction (I might be wrong, I am not AD). Me, it's the Database and the Chancery that bring be joy. Serving the nation, not out of power, but out of duty. Which reform??? What is there to reform? This is the second time you talk of reform, but what is there? What's not working so that the Chancery itself needs to be reformed? The Clark is published every month, votes are tallied, the few errors are corrected, elections runs smoothly, the problems with the Electoral Commmissions are not the Chancery's fault. Ok, we are not storing the mailing address of citizens. This is something I will address after the election, the most tense and busy period for the Chancery (and the most exciting). But reform? What do you want to reform? Are you accusing me of being a derivatist? Because I am a partially a peculiarist, but I can't ignore the law of my own country, since it applies to all of the things I work on!

Fixed, I had the email outputted on the screen for debugging purposes.
So far, only 2 people entered a privacy setting, Breneir and I, which makes me think no one abused the system.
I have changed the Code generation script so that all of the codes will be different in case someone stored a few.

An email was sent to all active citizens for which I had an email address, and which didn't have their privacy set yet, so that only Breneir and I didn't get it.
Here is the message at the top:
------------------------------------------------------------
You can now choose if Party Leaders can get your email address
Talossa has recently changed it's privacy laws to restrict who, in talossa, can access your email address
In the past, any Party Leader could access the whole list of Voter emails without restrictions.
The new law only allows citizens who have opted in to receive political emails to be shared.
The Chancery's implementation
The Secretary of State Office has decided to give you 4 options for how you want Political parties to interact with you
I do not want any political emails Only receiving mass emails sent from the Chancery on behalf of Political Parties Having an alias, in your case, [number]@talossa.ca published to keep your email secret Revealing your actual email address so that the parties can contact you. You will be able to change your setting as often as you want, but of course, once your email address has been shared, the chancery will have no control over it.
Please note that these settings are global and cannot be set differently for each party.

I have now fixed the List of Voters for Party Leaders to take into effect the new privacy settings. It is located at: www.talossa.ca/files/citemails.phpAnd Breneir, Miestra and AD should now be able to access it. If not, I will fix the access.

MPF, until recently, I was able to email the bulk of Talossan citizens to send them campaign materials. Did you just unilaterally change everyone's privacy setting, requiring them to log in and opt back in?
It seems extremely likely that, if you did, campaign materials are likely to reach very few people, and I'm curious why you would do this.

MPF, the page seems to be buggy. When I used the email you sent and chose the option at the bottom to automatically log in, things seemed to work, but when I pushed submit, the form simply reset. I had to actually log in to the database, go to the privacy page, and once I did that I got the confirmation page.

So I guess we have to rely on the entire population trying to login from the provided link, failing, and then maybe figuring it out the same way you did?

Well hopefully the SoS will figure out what is wrong with the form in time. We do have well over a month until the next election, thanks to the inaction of the king.

I have sent a second email after fixing it, explaining the issue.

I am extremely unhappy that the Chancery is unilaterally making all of these decisions. We are a tiny country, and we just keep making it harder for us to communicate with each other. No one was going to register a party in order to get 200 email addresses to sell, and in trying to prevent that entirely imaginary problem, you have helped push Talossans further apart from each other and ignored the wishes of many Talossans -- like me -- who didn't give you permission to change their privacy settings.

It seems extremely likely that, if you did, campaign materials are likely to reach very few people, and I'm curious why you would do this. Indeed, until recently you did have the ability to send the Talossan citizens campaign material. That was before I began applying this law: www.talossa.ca/files/bills.php?cosa=47&bill=15Which I should have applied in the previous election for the 48th Cosa, and I ended up not doing so. That is my fault ENTIRELY and I take the blame for it. I messed for the 48th Cosa election and allowed party leader access to the full list of voters, which is something I no longer had the right to do. I should issue a public apology to all of the voters on that issue. I would offer my resignation in shame but honestly, I do not think it warrants it, because as soon as I realized this law was in place, I created the privacy form, and honestly, I believe I do a good job, and since there are new laws almost every Cosa reforming the Chancery, I can be somewhat excused to forget one which even my Attorney (and the maintainer of El Lexthatx) doesn't seem to know about. Please note however, that I was aware of this bill: www.talossa.ca/files/bills.php?cosa=48&bill=25However, it failed and I assumed WRONGLY that this meant that the "currently read" part was still in place, and you can see in it: When in reality, 8.5.7 didn.t exist and was instead: Now, the database is in compliance with El Lexhatx, the real one, not the one in The 48RZ25 previous section. Since we went from Opt-out to opt-in, I do not have a choice by law but to set all citizens to "no contact", until they opt-in otherwise.
