Hello Assembly,
Our time is coming to an end with the current Convocation! I am glad to have served as Grand Specific Undersecretary and an Assemblyperson. I truly feel that we accomplished quite a bit this year in the ways of elections, reforming our Assembly, and getting people reinvigorated with our province.
I want to take the time to start some brainstorming on things the Assembly can do this coming session. Please feel free to chime in and add to the list so that we can start the Twelfth Convocation off strongly!
1.) Continue discussions on merging with Vuode.
2.) Start a provincial treasury.
3.) Explore options for provincial titles of nobility and knighthood(s).
4.) Further develop our cantons/townships.
5.) Further develop our government (and not just the assembly).
6.) Explore options to allow for more permanence with positions. (Currently only GSU is 'permanent'.)
7.) Look in to keeping the Assembly going at all times versus taking a break when the national government does.
8.) Develop a deeper history for our province.
9.) Explore the option of having the Navy be headquartered in our province.

Very interested in points 1, 3, 5, and 7. Point 4 is also good. This is the first time I have heard Point 9 as an option, but of course it has my support.
Point 2 - How much money do we really have?
Point 6 - How so? Why wouldn't we elect new leaders with every convocation, as to represent the will of the voters?
Point 8 - Does this mean research? I don't see how we can just make up history if it isn't already there.

These are all just random ideas I've been thinking about or pulled out of thin air.
Going in reversed...
Point 9 just makes sense. We are the lakefront province (especially if we absorb Vuode). Where else should the Navy be located?
Point 8 means research and getting actively involved to create history going forward. Currently, everything is sitting on the wayside... and will remain on the wayside until we start wanting to develop history. (I'm not talking about making a time machine and going back in time to build it). What we do now... is developing the history. What is the legacy we want to build?
Point 6 is if we develop the government further... IE a treasurer who is permanent versus being re-elected every convocation, maybe a Cunstuval who is more active lest he wishes to be removed (position wouldn't necessarily be more 'permanent' but would require more activity to stay 'permanent'), etc. Everything in our current government (except GSU) is completely replaced each election season. I still strongly believe the the GGS should be elected each election season. This is just a touch point when we develop things further.
Point 2 is that we have no money! We could easily do provincial fundraisers and accept donations. These funds could be in turn used to create new relics for the province, donate to local programs, issue small grants for this and that, etc. Even if we just maintain a treasury of 10 louies... We are at least maintaining and governing our own province to a greater scale than we are now.

I understand on points 6 and 9.
Point 2 - Create new relics? Relics are not something you just "create" for the hell of it. Donate to local programs; which ones? Issue small grants; to whom or to what? Fundraisers probably wont work very well; our province by itself has, what, 5 or 6 active people in it? I am all about building up MM's grandeur, but it does not seem like we need a treasury at this time.
Point 8 - Not a point in itself, really. OK, lets be more active and create history. Sure.

The treasury woud be the first thing to establish if we want to start working with money. Our money needs to go to somewhere if we start fundraising/doing events/whatever.
Which projects? Which groups? Etc... well, that would be determined by the Assembly! Some starter ideas... we house one of the largest fairgrounds in Wisconsin in our province. There are tons of cultural events happening throughout the year. Example... our first donation could be to the LGBT nonprofit who coordinates PrideFest, the Irish American association who puts on Irish Fest, the animal shelter who puts on the dog event, or kaybe we decide to focus on music and do something with SummerFest. We also have various museums in the area.
And if we wanted to, we could use the money to purchase medals, emblems, etc for key positions (or even individuals) in MM. We could even restrict the funds to Talossan organizations who operate in MM (if any where to come in to existence).
All of this would require a treasury for accurate and responsibile recordkeeping.
The history part... it was just an idea to get more people involved in something other than politics. Really... each of us could be building a strong family presence in MM, beong 'mayor' of a township if the assembly chose to do that, research history on key buildings in the province, etc.

Lots of Fests
You forgot to address that our fundraising base is very small. And with other Talossan organizations (and Talossa itself soon) all asking for donations, the amount we get would likely not be worth the trouble of trying to collect, handle, and dispense it.
I would endorse medals for recipients of MM awards (like the one I tried to create at the beginning of the term).
Research is good; needless mayoral positions, not so much. Our province is active enough to have an assembly (more than can be said about other provinces) but having mayors of townships is likely to prove solely ceremonial.
A strong family presence? I'm not sure what you mean. I have been trying to get my dad to immigrate; is that it?

Take it as you wish. This thread is just to spark ideas to get more things going in MM Some ideas are half baked. Lol

Not trying to be mean, if that's what you thought. I think every idea is worthy of serious debate, and act accordingly.

Oh no... i know you're not being mean. I just don't have a lot of depth to some of the ideas lol

I just don't have a lot of depth to some of the ideas lol Well, that is what discussion is for! To add depth to the things worthy of pursuing, and to debate what things are, in fact, worthy of pursuing.

I particularly like 8. We should see about researching more of the local Talossan history -- our fascist heritage (which then transformed, like a beautiful butterfly, into radical democracy).

I particularly like 8. We should see about researching more of the local Talossan history -- our fascist heritage (which then transformed, like a beautiful butterfly, into radical democracy). I like the idea of researching our history, which is quite different than purposefully acting in ways which would make history, which I initially though #8 advocated. Indeed, enough of our actions "make history" without us having to try.
