I need to start selling popcorn in the Ziu chambers. I could be making a killing! Of course all profits will be passed to the treasury.

Hey! Just doing my part in order to try to raise funds for the Kingdom.
On a more serious note, it is extremely entertaining to see two people on opposite ends of spectrum argue these points. Now if only these two forces could work together... just imagine what could of/be done.

I agree with you on that point! I think a government with active people like her and I united, rather than opposed, would be amazing.

I can't work with someone I see as acting in a fundamentally dishonest way. You just can't work with someone whom you can't trust, and you can't trust someone who will retail blatant logical absurdities for partisan advantage, throw in snide and hurtful comments in "oblique" language to create plausible deniability, and then act all "who? me?" when others become enraged by this.
This, it could be argued, is a flaw in my nature, and I'm ready to concede that. I can rightfully be called many names - rude, angry, stubborn, disrespectful - but I put honesty and integrity at the top of my list of priorities (which is why I thought the Hool/Asmourescu case was worth prosecuting, even though it was far from a slam-dunk as to whether a crime had actually been committed). Sadly, I also get bent-out-of-shape furious at lying, manipulation and bullying, and often go over-the-top in my attempt to rhetorically punish the perpetrator. The voters and the Free Democrats will decide whether these are faults which can be tolerated. I don't like getting ranting, foaming angry - which is why quitting Talossa is a course of action I cpmmonly ponder.
But Talossa needs an active and competent government - and it also needs an honest one, which will not use lies, manipulation and blatant partisanship to get its own way. And it's not just me. I could put up a list of ex-RUMP stalwarts who have exactly the same opinion as I do.

I particularly like the bit that argues that Hool didn't try to bribe Asmourescu "in Talossa" (i.e. in the GTA) so the court has no jurisdiction. Wonderful lawyering, complete contempt for justice - although of course that's a defence lawyer's job, to get his client off by any means necessary. As a former prosecutor--outside of Talossa--I would say "contempt for justice" better describes filing felony charges against someone for actions that are not even crimes, and/or when the prosecution doesn't even attempt to allege essential elements of the offense. Regarding the jurisdictional flaw, as you well know, Lord Hooligan promptly waived that issue so that the case would not fall on a jurisdictional technicality, and would have to be resolved on the merits of the charges.

That was for the Cort to decide. I'm sorry that it never got the chance to.

That was for the Cort to decide. I'm sorry that it never got the chance to. A prosecutor has an independent duty only to pursue charges that he or she believes are supported by evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that the charged person committed the crimes charged. It goes without saying that the crimes charged should be actual crimes. Of course the fact that the Cort didn't decide anything was the government's decision, because the government opted to pull the plug on the prosecution without responding to the dismissal motion at all. It was also disappointing that the government decided not to respond substantively to any of my separate attempts to engage them on the merits of the prosecution.

Right. I should point out that the A-G who decided to pull the plug on the case was M. T. P. da Biondeu-Garcia. Since he is no longer a member of my Party, I´m sure he'll be willing to explain his reasoning at great length. I am Not A Lawyer (except ex officio as A-G) and I thought it was worth a crack, and M. E. da lhuin (A-G at the beginning of the case) thought it was worth a shot.

That's not quite accurate - S:reu da Biondeu was never the Avocat-Xheneral. He was the Deputy Avocat-Xheneral. I was the Avocat-Xheneral at the time. I kept out of the case as much as possible given my own conflict of interest in the case, however, I did advise da Biondeu on legal strategy while avoiding specifics. Ultimately it was his decision, however.
