A thread to discuss movies you are planning to see in the nect few weeks
My three: Sicario (heard some very good things about this-fantastic cast certainly.) The Martian (not released here yet and I haven't read the book so NO SPOLIERS ya bums-Matt Damon is a reliable presence even in mediocre movies, and even if Ridley Scott is more miss than hit lately this is the kind if technical challenge that brings out the best in him) Spectre (I'm expecting a gorgeous looking action romp with more holes than a mountain of Swiss cheese...and I won't care, probably)
Yes quite blockbuster heavy, but I think these would be worth seeing on the big screen. Anyone got other suggestions?

I'm looking forward to The Martian. Also want to see Black Mass, He named me Malala and am excited for the next Star Wars, The Hateful Eight, Concussion, The Witch, Our Brand is Crisis, etc. I'm a huge movie buff so this is a great thread.

The Hateful Eight, yes! Star Wars-I've always been a bit cool about it, don't know why. My boy is 4, so a bit young to see it in the cinema, but has a frankly disturbing affinity with Darth Vader...so I anticipate buying lots of SW junk next year. I have already passed that way with Frozen Black Mass is an interesting case-from what I'm hearing its more "Blow" than "Donny Brasco", so I'm a bit ambivalent. When it will actually be released in my neck of the woods is anybodys guess though

Of the block of movies that is currently in theaters, I've seen The Martian, the new Maze Runner, and The Intern.
The Martian is a great movie, a million times better than that awful Sandra Bullock movie that I can't believe passed for a decent film, and Matt Damon really shines in it. Chiwetel Ejiofor's performance in the movie also stood out; it felt at times to be similar to his role in 2012, but this wasn't a bad thing.
The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials was alright. A must see if you were a fan of the first one I suppose, and I guess I am, even though I didn't think the first one was anything more than "alright" either. I think perhaps I really just go for the performance of Kaya Scodelario mainly (probably because I loved her in Skins), and to a lesser extent, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who at times seems to be the only thing keeping this film series worth watching.
Out of the three, The Intern squeaks by The Martian for me to win it out though. The performance of Robert De Niro was spot on and entertaining, almost a throw back to times of Focker a little over 10 years ago, and easily overcomes his lackluster roles (which aren't entirely his fault, seeing as how the movies weren't so great) in Last Vegas and Grudge Match. Anne Hathaway nailed her role as well, though at times I couldn't tell for sure I wasn't watching The Devil Wears Prada 2 given the stark parallels between her role in this movie and her character in Prada. The supporting roles played by the other interns fleshed out the movie well, and part of me wishes the plot of the movie had the interns more at the center, rather than Hathaway, but nonetheless, it all worked out.
The Walk, the Joseph Gordon-Levitt movie about that guy who walked between the Twin Towers, looks decent. Apparently, some media screeners who went to the 3D showing got sick from watching the film because of how real the cinematography feels, and that's a plus. The problem for me is that I have sometimes have problems with the 3D glasses. I'm very nearsighted, but I don't wear glasses that often since one of my eyes corrects the other (I'm pretty sure I have glaucoma too from a paintball injury, but that's a story for another time). Problem is, I guess the glasses strains my good eye too much, so I don't really get the full 3D experience that most people would get, and I almost always get a headache afterwards. I'll probably see The Walk anyways though; I'm a huge JGL fan.
I also plan to see the Redford/Nolte movie A Walk in the Woods at some point; it's a tale about them walking the Appalachian Trail, which pretty much runs through my backyard, so the setting of the movie might be familiar to me in parts. Bridge of Spies also seems interesting, and I might stop in to see it, but only because there won't be any more decent movies come out until the very end of the month.
