As the title suggests ... Is Vuode a 'failed province'?
Since 2009, when I first showed up here, the province has only had 3 to 5 active citizens. Myself, Trotxa, Viteu, Dreu and, sporadically, Aladna. Despite numerous efforts to increase activity over the years, nothing ever changes.
Our voter turnout in elections is laughable.
Are we deadwood? Are we a failed province?
Should we disband and seek to form a union with a neighbouring province?
I feel like I'm representing nobody as a Senator. I feel like I hold this office just for the sake of it's existence. Is this really the case?
Are we only holding on for historical sakes?
What gives, Vuode?

Also, I invite observers from other provinces to share their views.

Well looking at the threads, the last time someone OTHER than you started a new thread was by a non-citizen back in August of 2014.

It's rather disheartening, eh?
Also, I'm pretty sure I've written most of the Wiki pages for Vuode.
Myself and Trotxa wrote and passed the constitution with some help from V.
V is now gone and 2 men a province don't make.
It's been this way since expletive knows when.

My running joke has always been that Vuode itself is a dobberpuhl.

It is, substantially so, given the monumental role Vuode has played in both our national narrative and its richly peculiar history. But as they say: if something's too good to be true, it probably is Real talk though, I honestly feel like the whole "for the sake of its own existence" issue could be applied to provinces as a whole-- nearly every party has a line about "revitalizing the provinces," but none of us seems to have any idea what that means or how to accomplish it. Participation in the Mussolini-Benito transition is the biggest role I've ever played in my own province-- and nothing's really transpired on before or since that period of a month or two.

Yeah, I roll my eyes when I read "we will take measures to increase provincial activity" in manifestos now. We all want to see vibrant provinces, but very few take enough of a role to make it actually happen.
I'm thinking (off the top of my head and in a half baked idea kind of sense) that the provinces would be best left as they are for the sake of geographical, cultural and historical sakes ... Senatorial lines stay the same ... but when it comes to local provincial governance they would be better served joining in some form of union, so rather than many less active assemblies we had fewer more active assemblies.

What's the culture here? Is there any compelling tourism? I'd visit if there was something going on here. Hell, I'd start something if I had an idea for something to host.
Maricopa's ManilowMania started as a joke but it's turned into a lot of fun. One festival doesn't make a huge difference, I know, but its a start. I love that the residents not only tolerated me crashing their province, but embraced it. I love them for it.
I'd like to do Province Crawls more often... to see what kind of well-intentioned disruption I could cause.

All provinces are failed provinces. They have only ever been active sporadically. Don't be so hard on yourselves.

I'd say that you are a stub, an invitation to get the province going. What is needed is three active citizens who want to get the ball rolling, and you are making sure that the infrastructure is there the day that happens.
But perhaps the catchment area needs revising.

This probably is the reason why I convinced myself to "come back home." " Since 2009, when I first showed up here, the province has only had 3 to 5 active citizens... Despite numerous efforts to increase activity over the years, nothing ever changes. Our voter turnout in elections is laughable... Are we a failed province?" Those were really tough words from Sen. Grischun. But he made a really good point. This being the first and oldest of all the provinces of the Kingdom, I am honored to be a 'resident' of Vuode. As such, I feel duty-bound to defend and uphold the province in any way possible. There is an ongoing discussion about a union with Maritiimi-Maxhestic. I've gone through the post that was started by S:reu Plätschisch; and though I understand the logic behind the proposal, the Vuodean in me prevents me from giving it my full and unbounded support.
Should we really disband the province and form a union with another? If we're only going to do that because there isn't that much activity going on around here, that just doesn't seem right (to me, at least.) "All provinces... have only ever been active sporadically," so said Dame Miestrâ. If we are to merge with M-M, should all the other 'inactive' provinces merge with it - or with other, more 'active' realms - as well?
S:reu Pinátsch asked what the culture of our province is, and if we have any "compelling tourism" to offer. As an alternative, may I propose that a commission for Vuodean culture and tourism be put up instead?
"It's been this way since expletive knows when." Heck, it's been this way since I emigrated here. But, despite the jokes and jibes regarding this place, I only have Pierre Trudeau's words to offer; when, a day before the 1968 Canadian General Election, he defied Quebec sovereignists and - while being pelted by rocks and bottles - said "They can't make me go. I'll stay."
