I'm creating this thread as a place to discuss ongoing translation projects and general questions about the translation process. Translation platforms that support Talossan (and active translation projects):TransifexCrowdinLaunchpad

Roibeardet dal Riesta, I had some questions about the Minecraft spreadsheet you created. The spreadsheet has separate sections for colour names and for elements that use those colour names, and in the latter sections the colour names are represented by %. It looks like this use of % is your creation, rather than something from the Minecraft project on Crowdin. Were you planning on manually incorporating colour names into all of the other elements, or creating a script to do that? If the latter, we have been using diifferent names for some of the colours in the context of heraldry. What would you think of creating a separate section for names of heraldic tinctures, and pulling from that list for banner terms and from the normal list for other elements (e.g. wool and dyes)? Also, have you thought about how to deal with colour names that inflect for gender?

I was planning on incorporating the color names into the other terms semi-automatically, since we can't directly import files into the Minecraft project on Crowdin. I didn't think about the gender inflection at first since I didn't know when I started that some adjectives could change. Now I have split it into two sheets (check the bottom of the spreadsheet), one for the terms and the other for the colors. I have also made 4 lists for the colors: masculine normal color, feminine normal color, masculine heraldic color and feminine heraldic color.

Gotta think about the syntax of some of the remaining entries. But we should be done with that spreadsheet in short order.

One of the Reddit admins also added Talossan now to their supported languages! You can request to join here. The Reddit translation does have some additional rules set by them: The term "reddit" is always lowercase. Site terms like "subreddit", "multireddit", "reddit gold" should either be transliterated or remain untranslated depending on your language's convention. Technical acronyms like "CSS", "API" as well as acronymns like "NSFW" should not be translated. Additionally, keep in mind that text on reddit should feel like a helpful friend. Use an informal & friendly tone in your translations. Do not to use formal language unless the context requires it.

I added lists of the current translation projects that I'm aware of to the message at the beginning of this thread. Let me know if you start any more and I'll add them to the lists.

Not exactly a translation project, but I've submitted a request for Talossan support at Forvo, a huge database of word pronunciations (recorded audio) in various languages. Could be a useful resource for storing and organising audio recordings of Talossan words for use in Memrise courses, TalossaWiki, etc.

Got a reply from a Forvo representative. She said their priority right now is adding more natural languages, but she'll add Talossan to their to-do list. So I wouldn't hold my breath, but it's not a flat rejection either.

I have tried translating some of the remaining terms. Could you check my traduziuns and take a look at the remaining ones? I also requested Roundcube ( telepost clíent) a while ago. Could you add that one too?

I have tried translating some of the remaining terms. Could you check my traduziuns and take a look at the remaining ones? I've made some changes, but still have a lot to do. One reason for some of my changes is that there are some inconsistencies in our heraldic practice, and I looked at some more past examples to get an idea of the dominant practice. Another is that I've been looking at the banner article on the Minecraft Wiki in conjunction with the spreadsheet, and Minecraft uses some heraldic terms in very non-standard ways, and I'm trying to get the same effect with more standard terminology. For example, what they call a "chevron" is really more like a pile inverted, and what they call a "chevron inverted" is really more like a pile.

I have tried translating some of the remaining terms. Could you check my traduziuns and take a look at the remaining ones? Alright, I finished going through the spreadsheet. Let me know if you have any questions about any of the translations; some of them are kind of weird cuz heraldry. I didn't nail down an option for "gradient", but I'm leaning toward translating "% gradient" as "Gradie %m" and "% base gradient" as "Gradie invert %m". (For what it's worth, "gradient" is an actual heraldic term, but it doesn't mean anything like what Minecraft uses it for. It's actually a term used only of tortoises, to indicate that a tortoise should be depicted as walking. Weird, eh?)

For " cyan" I found the word " turcoiça" and for " magenta" I found " fuc'hschina", but I wasn't sure if this is correct as they are listed as noun.

I also noticed you didn't translate "Creeper". Maybe it is a good idea to Talossanize the monster names.
