This thread is to gauge interest in establishing a Talossan LGBT group - not only to serve the interests of Talossa's LGBT community in a political (but non-partisan) sense, but to function as a hopefully socially active cultural organization, and to serve as a safe space of discussion and support for those who might face bigotry in their non-Talossan lives. If anyone would be interested in joining, or has any suggestions, or wants to point out that a perfectly good group already exists and I've overlooked it, this is the place to speak up!

I'm guessing this is akin to an interest group more than anything?

I don't know of any active LGBT group in Talossa, but I do know we have many citizens who might be interested.

Stopping in to provide a small dose of history. The following is from From Abbavilla to Zooks: A Lexicon of Talossan English, 1998 Edition: Mutiny of Preverts {n/bm} Talossa's much-higher-than-average population of gay and bisexual citizens has led to the use, in jest, of the term "mutiny of preverts" to describe Talossa or at least its non-heterosexual population. The term comes from the classic comedy "Dr. Strangelove."

I'm guessing this is akin to an interest group more than anything? Indeed! I doubt there's enough pertinent political debate for it to function as a purely political entity, so the social aspect would be a large focus. And maybe the Prida parade Dunno about bigotry. I'm legally married. Well, clearly not everyone involved will face institutional discrimination on a daily basis. But even people in tolerant nations/states/provinces might benefit from the safe space aspect - I know there are usually a number if Talossans in high school, for instance, which can be rough regardless of governmental stance.

I like the concept, but a slight suggestion. Like you said, there's not much political debate exclusively about the LGBT community in Talossa, so why not broaden the scope and focus on social freedoms like that of expression and personal privacy?

Like you said, there's not much political debate exclusively about the LGBT community in Talossa, so why not broaden the scope and focus on social freedoms like that of expression and personal privacy? I think that may be a bit afield for this sort of thing. I fear it would end up focused solely on the ongoing debates related to e-mail privacy and such. If anyone would be interested in joining, or has any suggestions, or wants to point out that a perfectly good group already exists and I've overlooked it, this is the place to speak up! See this threadI had a feeling something like this might have been done. Thanks for the link.
