On September 26, 1997, the Uppermost Cort - who in those days had right of veto over new citizens - rejected my application at the behest of King Robert I. My Talossan supporters thereupon quit the Kingdom in solidarity, and we set up the Free Commonwealth of Penguinea - an invent which, in retrospect, led directly to the establishment of the democratic constitutional monarchy we enjoy in Talossa today. You're welcome.

WEEPWOOO! A Maltese cross? Did you speak a variety of Maltese there?! Nope, it's Penguinean, and I assume it means "Vive free Penguinea".

The Penguinean language (Penginitung) was an eclectic mix of Icelandic, Welsh and Japanese. I'm not sure why we put the Maltese cross on the flag. I think just because Evan G. liked it.
Maltese is basically Arabic written in a Latin alphabet, isn't it?

Maltese is basically Arabic written in a Latin alphabet, isn't it? Hmmm, interesting. Icelandic, Welsh and Japanese sounds very... exotic! I'd love to read some about that language. Maybe some example sentences? Yes, Maltese is the only Semitic language in Europe, and the only one written in a Latin alphabet. It has - depending on speaker, register, and topic - a relatively high percentage of Romance vocabulary (Italian, French), and one can coin new verbs by taking them from English, and suffixing a "-ja". Here an example sentence of what I just wrote: lsien could be replaced with lingwa (which would change the whole sentence to a femininum-subject, i.e. "hi l-unika lingwa Semitika"). jikojnja is an English borrowing by me (totally legit). You could also say jivventa or jintroduċċi, both of which come from Italian. In Arabic, the whole thing would read (in transliteration): *: Aywa is Egyptian for "yes". It is reckoned to be a corruption of "Ayy, wallah!" (Yes, by god.) The Standard Arabic word for "yes" is naʿam.

I think Maltese borrows a lot from Sicilian rather than Italian.

I could not say with certainty.
However, adjectives from Italian are inflected with a (-u)/-a/-i pattern. (semitiku, semitika, semitiċi; Latin, Latina, Latini), while Semitic adjectives have a broken plural (ġdid, ġdida, ġodda; kbir, kbira, kbar; xiħ, xiħa, xjuħ), or a sound plural (ieħor, oħra, oħrajn; tajjeb, tajba, tajbin; sbejjaħ, sbejħa, sbejħin).

Here's the most complete exposition of how far we got with Penginijtung. King Robert I made fun of it. The late Erik Rothwell (peace be upon him) attempted to invented "Pengaelic" as an alternative.
