There's been some very strange goings on recently with regards to elections. I did not recieve an e-mail about the Cosa election until I asked for one (and no it wasn't in my spam) and now it seems Fiôvâ is not currently having a Senatorial election despite it saying so on the ballot paper?!?! I don't know whether there's any foul play going on but it's really peed me off and surely these elections can't be valid if they haven't been fair.

They would have been valid if EVERYONE had been duly informed. I got no mail whatsoever.

They would have been valid if EVERYONE had been duly informed. I got no mail whatsoever. Our election law seems to be very lax in this detail, it only states "[the SOS] shall make the ballot paper available to all electors as outlined in the subsequent sections of this Section and in Section 5". (I looked till my eyes bled, but I couldn't find a Section 5. So one might ask if there is any national law that is more specific; and if fundamental rights of Xhorxh and Jum have been violated by the sloppy information policy of the provincial chancery.) One thing that the OrgLaw is saying, is that Senatorial elections shall be conducted simultanelously with general elections to the Cosâ. I wonder if this implies that voting should be possible as long as the Cosâ election is on - if so, our election started too late and ended too soon.

The ballot paper was not made available to all voters, so this election is ILLEGAL.

Is a re-run what we are all asking for here?

No doubt about it!

How do you propose we do this? A re-run could take another month to organize and run.

Two points have been made:
- the voters weren't duly informed that it's voting time - the election ended too soon, thus unexpectedly, which created an extra obstacle to those willing to vote.
Now the proverbial ball is on the lawn of the provincial election authority, they have to decide how to fix the mistakes (if they admit that it were mistakes) they made.

Now the proverbial ball is on the lawn of the provincial election authority, they have to decide how to fix the mistakes (if they admit that it were mistakes) they made. And I would like to accept full responsibility for those mistakes. However, I want to point out that if I do nothing to change the unsatisfactory results of this election, I will be condemned for allowing an unjust election to pass. If I re-run this election (which I would like to do, having seen the points made here), I could be slowing down the entire nation's legislative process by a month while the country waits for me to get my act together and conduct a proper election for Senator. I'm just not sure what is the right decision here.

A pragmatic approach in such cases is that an election is not rerun if it's obvious that the uncounted votes will not change the result "as is", even if that solution is not compensating the loss of those who have been treated unfair. So OTOH if Xhorxh AND Jum would insist on a re-run, their votes could change the result .. a tie would be possible...

If you do nothing things can get worse, as someone might file a lawsuit and mess everything up for a long time. If rules have been broken, they have to be fixed, period. I definitely don't wanna be ripped off! Scheduling a re-run is THE right thing to do now. If all electors are informed, more people might vote and the result be completely diferente.

Well, if I re-ran the election and emailed everyone in Fiova, then the results could be significantly different.

Anyway, I guess it's up to the government to decide, that is, you don't have to carry the burden of a decision singlehandedly, Éovart.
