I'm glad to note that the people did rise up against this nonsense, and that "the people" here includes sensible RUMPers. Once again, great work Tim and Alex. And this is sound legally. The SoS gave citizenship; the SoS can't take it away because he decided he made a mistake. Only the Cort can do that. The grant of citizenship was illegal. No grant can be given without the proper process being followed. It wasn't. Therefore, he COULD NOT HAVE GIVEN THE WRIT. Still total and utter bullshit. You cannot issue something that the law clearly states you do not have the right to issue. Unfortunately, I believe the law clearly disagrees with you, and two justices concur. If you wish to do so, however, you could hopper a bill that amends the Umpteenth Act so that the SoS' grant of citizenship is reviewed by someone, and ruled invalid if it is found to have any flaws. I think that would not be a good law, but it is an option open to you if you wish to enforce your perspective.

Is the concept of "in good faith" applicable in Talossan jurisprudence? I know that in a number of American jurisdictions, if a someone officiates a wedding who is not authorized to do so, but the bride and groom have ample reason to believe they are, the wedding is not invalidated, but the faux-ficiant is punished.

And nobody got thrown out. Here, this must be repeated: NOBODY GOT THROWN OUT. The choice was clear and Mr. Lowry decided to end his citizenship. He left on his own accord. Frankly, if the oath is necessary to become a citizen, then it would stand to reason that rescinding that oath would be equivalent to rescinding ones citizenship. Would you care to point out exactly where that is in the law? The only way you can renounce is to renounce, and I haven't done that.

Be it known that the Chancery sent the following personal message to M:sr Lowry: The Secretary of State received this response: And so... WHEREAS M:sr Andy Lowry has expressed that he no longer wishes to avail himself of Talossan citizenship (The Best Thing Money Can't Buy), THEREFORE the Chancery hereby terminates his Talossan citizenship, effective immediately Done by my hand in the name of King John and under his Royal Seal this 14th day of January in the year of the common era 2013, in the 6th year of the reign of our gracious sovereign King John, and of the independence of Talossa the 34th. Sir Iustì Canun, UrGP, Secretar d'Estat This breaks numerous covenants. Numbers 2, 3, 6, and 16 are guarantees to me that you can't do what you are pretending to do. The law says I'm still a citizen, so I am regardless of what you think. You want to bring charges, then bring charges. You don't get to decide on your own.

Not that I'm looking for anyone to get punished, cause I'm not. Just more interested in the good faith prospect

This is a matter for the courts to decide. And pending such decision, I feel your citizenship should remain intact. I even wrote a handy order to that effects!

Welcome back Andy and Judah!
Modified to state glad you are still here as no one left or was pushed out under the law. It is nice to see the courts getting some action but it is unfortunate that it occurred in this way.

I do question the integrity of individuals who use the threat of quitting to get what they want.

Whatever. As far as I can see, the matter is done. The SoS appears to have acted to reinstate both citizens in recognition of the law, for which he is to be commended (it's hard to admit an error, but Iusti is a big enough man to do so) and two justices have weighed in. If the case proceeds in Cort - which I doubt, since the state will probably not try to prosecute it further - then it will continue in the appropriate venue.

Oh but Dame Miestra Madison, when did I threaten to quit? I stated that I'm feeling a bit over Talossa, mostly because of your antics but I never threatened to quit.

Listen to yourself. You invented "Godwin's Law For Talossa" and now you're doing precisely that all over me.
