Proclamation of the Maestro - Columbus Day

WHEREAS the actual date of Columbus Day is always October 12th, and
WHEREAS the Monday closest to that date this year is Monday, October 15th;
THEREFORE the Maestro of Benito enacts that, for the employees of the Sovereign Province of Benito, Monday, October 15th, 2012 is Columbus Day Observed.

Enacted into law by my proclamation under Article 11 of the Constitution of Benito, at 11:57 PM Benito time, Sunday, October 14th, 2012.

1) The US "observes" (which is to say, gives government employees the day off for) Columbus Day on the second Monday in October. But the third Monday was actually closer to October 12th this year.

2) The Maestro is a wild and crazy man who might do anything. Anything! Like give non-existent employees of the province random days off!
