Out of a sense of fairness, I tried to throw in every suggestion (even the obviously not serious ones) in the thread (intentionally omitting only Taiwos' split province names and a few of Grischun's Garibaldi translations because of space, apologies for any unintentional omissions, though I at least think I got all the ones that seemed to have any support.)
I, at least, wanted to see where the broad consensus was on this before I support any changes.

I should say my translations were iffy at best. Advice from language experts should be sought. Is it just me or does Dixhetcorax look like the name of a medicine? Anyway, Garibaldi is my pick... even though it has nothing at all to do with me. (and I choose Garibaldi not because of any Italian stuff, but solely because of the garibaldi biscuit which was my childhood favourite. Good old Granny Grice always had them for when we came over. These days it's p-p-pick up a Penguin.

If we Talossify the name Garibaldi we don't need to take its literal meaning and change it to Talossan roots. The word already originates in a romance language, we could just easily respell it as it fits Talossan phonology and phonetics.
It'd still look like Garibaldi, just changed slightly.
I personally also think we should change it into the name of a country even if we don't want to Talossify the phonetics, and make it Garibaldia or something like that.
America isn't named Amerigo even though the guy that discovered it was named that- they made it feminine to change it into a land.
Just an idea.

Still think Cjarcosta or something of the like is more euphonic and evocative. Just my $.02.

Given the number of options, this could be an opportunity for an interesting demonstration of preference voting.

Can I just say that I like the idea of Garibaldia?

Lorentzio 5 votes Garibaldi 4 votes Benito 3 votes Linceo 2 votes Tesla 1 vote Savoia 1 vote Cjarcosta 1 vote Cjartzara 1 vote Benedetto 1 vote
Anyway, after this poll, a bill will be submitted to the Chancellery (before the end of this Cosa, please, otherwise it will be a Benitian 2013), so let's decide calmly our best choice.

Since Tesla is getting so little support sniffsniff, I will happily support any reasonable alternative to Benito.

I am not a Benetian... but may I suggest something?
After a cut off date, let those who have voted for the 'names' receiving only one vote, vote for the other names that have received more than one vote... thereby you'll have a smaller list of names, and it may be so that you'll have an entirely different scenario...

Yes, I have already thought about a similar stuff. Now the names with at least a vote will be reproposed in another poll.
