The Province so nice, they named it thrice amendment
Whereas apparently we can't do anything right the first time and
Whereas, people are still offended by the name "Benito" and
Whereas, we don't really dig people being offended so
Therefore, the Constitution of the Sovereign Province of Benito is hereby amended as follows.
All references to "Benito" shall be replaced with the name "Garibaldi."
The name of the province shall henceforth be known as "The Sovereign Province of Garibaldi."

Whereas, being the elected Senator and thusly having to represent the people of Benito, and Whereas my own personal opinion probably carries no weight, nonetheless.... I must admit and confess my strong dislike for Garibaldi as a provincial name. Garibaldi, if I am correct in assuming, is the name of a certain gentleman of distinction in Italian history. A gentleman, from the research I've done, who is wholly worthy of having a province named in his honor. I might be for it, if we Talossified it. But.... To my ignorant American ears, "Garibaldi" sounds like some sort of ethnic slur. "Look at that...a buncha f**kin' Garibaldi's just walked in." I can easily imagine such dialogue being uttered in a Martin Scorcese film. Guineas, dagos, wops, guidos, garibaldis. I just don't like it. I picture an enormously fat man with protruding back hair wearing copious amounts of gaudy gold necklaces and rings, sweating profusely, ordering plate after plate at an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner. Nothing wrong with that, I guess. Really. Garibaldi just does sound like an insult. But, hey, maybe that's just me. Attachments:

I know I have no standing here... but from an outsider, sitting in the visitor's gallery ... When you talk about renaming the Province to "Garibaldi" .... I think of Babylon 5. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Garibaldi

Not to belabor the obvious, but I would think that gentlemen in the province might be sensitive to the "baldy" sound in the word, and the subsequent connotations. When I hear "Garibaldi," I instantly picture a big, garish, bald guy.... much like the picture posted by Senator Taiwos there.

the Support Act WHEREAS, Provinces remain often forgotten due to their too-hidden board on Wittenberg; WHEREAS, this is also what happens to the nicest province of the Regipäts, Benito; WHEREAS, this causes a lack of activity in our province, noticed, in order, by s:r Asmorescu, s:r Perthonest and s:r da Schir; WHEREAS this is bad; THEREFORE WE, the Glorious Chancellery of the Great Province of Benito, endorse and give full support at the Provinces Developing Petition, proposed by s:r A. Davinescu and so far endorsed by M-M and Cezembre.
