Can someone fill me in on what happened with the territorial rejiggering of late? I understand why we ceded some territory to help create Fiova, but why did Maritiimi-Maxhestic get some of our land? Was there a particular thread where the horses were traded?

A summary is probably a better way to present than links to the various threads that things evolved through, and since the whole thing wound up getting blamed on me (the "Perþonest Plan", it wound up being called), who better to summarize?
1) Among the early proposals for new province was an offer from Maricopa to cede Buffonia and Fredericville. (Others included annexing Shorewood, or promoting Pengöpäts).
2) The incoming Republicans really wanted to have Port Maxhestic, including the Mitchell Building, which had been the Republic's official capital.
3) M-M was less-than-enthusiastic as the idea of being abridged to Maritiimi.
4) It was proposed (um, by me, seeking a compromise) that Port Maxhestic could be split on the 2010 census tract line, letting the to-be-Fiovans have western Maxhestic (including the Republic's capital), plus Buffonia and Fredericville from the Maricopan offer. Maricopans asked were still okay with this, and the the to-be-Fiovans were
5) But M-M was still less-than-enthusiastic, since the part of Port Maxhestic they'd keep was the part with no population or residences.
6) It was then proposed (um, again, by me) that instead of Fredericville going to the new province, it could go to M-M, offsetting the loss of population and housing. Maricopans were okay with this, the to-be-Fiovans were, and M-M was, if not happy, at least no longer screaming.
The result was that Fiova came into existence with the one bit of land they really had their hearts set on, M-M held approximately even in population and housing and retained enough of Maxhestic to justify their name, and Maricopa gave up only what it originally offered in the beginning (and remained the most-populous-and-most-cantons province by a good long way).

That helps, thanks. I don't know what use those M-M fishmongers have for a landlocked canton, but I guess it seems pretty fair overall.

At least a part of it was due to the fact that, at the time, we had more cantons than we had active people.

Permanent solution to a temporary problem, that, but I believe it was the right thing to do anyways. If it were up to me I would have simply split off Port Maxhestic from Maritiimi, but I can certainly understand why our friends in Maritiimi-Maxhestic were not enthusiastic about that idea.
Anyways, we should still deal with the fact that our constitutionally designated capital is no longer in the province.

Perhaps we should just delete the references to our capital and the ceded cantons? We don't really need to have a constitutionally-designated capital.
Also on the subject of territory changes, I note that 43RZ19 abolished the OrgLaw definitions of subdivisions below cantons, so the traditional subdivisions of parishes (or pleivs) and townships (or borgais) no longer have any legal status. Provinces may subdivide their cantons any way they please. I'm thinking maybe we should pass a provincial law stating that Maricopa's cantons are divided into parishes and townships along 1990 census lines. Any thoughts?

I would be fine with this, but I'm not sure how much we can do with a sleeping Premier--my Act has been pending for over a month.

Sir Iustì Canun, UrGP is no longer an inactive Premier and was re-elected recently. However shortly after his first few days in the Cabana he gave some personal advices to the members and thereafter they have stopped going to the Cabana too...

Haha well I tried putting a bill out there, and it was cosponsored and voted on, but it hasn't been passed yet

I'm new to Maricopa but if our Premier is not active, something needs to be done.
