*COUGH* Still waiting... Oh, sorry, I had a small dehydrated marshmallow caught in my throat. The newest charm. Tardy Tortoises! I expect you will soon be apologizing to the Baron Hooligan for alleging that he "cares so little" about our culture. That's a logical fallacy there. At the time of the criticism, how can you take into account facts that are unknown at the time? How can we expect people to apologise for not knowing what had not been revealed yet? There might be other reasons for thinking that it was dumb to accuse Hooligan for not caring enough about Talossan culture, but surely not knowing what had not yet been made public isn't one of them.

I don't want to wrangle about this. I thought it was very rude to make such a suggestion, and then to follow it up a few days later with a "reminder," is all. Never mind.

That your party would wait until an election to reveal some work on culture, to me, seems to whiff of last minute point scoring. That aside, I think you've done a good job with it.

That aside, I think you've done a good job with it. i rather resent this. The election had nothing to do with timing. We HAD to wait until after June 1 to release the project, for there was no eighth province until then! This project has been underway since LONG before election season, with the planned unveiling ALWAYS scheduled for as soon after Fiova was created as possible. We honestly did not even think about the fact that this might or might not be during the recess of the Ziu. In fact, in the early project plan draft papers, the province that became Fiova is referred to as "Maricopa Meriodional" -- South Maricopa. We have been working on this since before Fiova had a name. Would you have us NOT unveil the project as planned and when completed, simply because it happens to be election season? And ESPECIALLY when the government had been openly challenged by the opposition and accused of not caring or doing anything to help connect the diaspora to the homeland, when in fact it has been busy as all get-out on exactly that for many months? In fact, there is every chance that the RUMP will be leaving office after the election -- should this project have been held back so that the next government's Ministry of Culture could not inherit it for maintenance and improvement, and then the RUMP reveal it after the election as a private, non-governmental effort, owned by the RUMP? THAT, I would say, would be the disingenuous and partisan way, and that is NOT what the RUMP did, nor is it the way the RUMP believes such a national cultural project should ever be treated. That said, I am glad you like it, Carlüs! Thanks for the kind words! Hool P.S. But no, i don't think any apology is in order. Most of our friends across the aisle had no knowledge of the project and my "three days from May 30" estimate for the project's completion (made, of course, as noted above, with the knowledge of what June 1 meant, and wanting to allow that great event to hold the spotlight it should) did turn out to be five days in error, and believe me, every niggling reminder was not unwelcome in that each one encouraged us (and stressed me out!) all the more as we pushed through to completion!

Uhmm, was there some mix-up there, Hool? Or did you intend to thank Carlüs for liking it? (I mean, I did like it, but it was in another thread that I said so, and I did not criticize the RUMP over the timing...)

Yep. Wrong name, sorry. I'll edit that. My brain and my fingers are not communicating well yet today.

It's nothing personal, you understand, it's just the timing seems a little convenient. I'll take your word for it that it was your intention to complete it around now, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels a little suspicious with regards to the timing. Of course, that doesn't diminish the achievement in any way! I, like Eðo in another thread, liked the fact that Pengopats was the equivalent of jail.

It's nothing personal, you understand, Oh, I know. It's all good. Well, I'm sorry for anyone who might feel that way, but if you guys hadn't declared the Republic exactly eight years before a campaign season, it wouldn't have happened this way. :-) Hool

S:reu Davis, my concern was primarily pointed at what I perceive as a problem in RUMP cultural policy, a lack of connection between diasporic Talossans and the GTA. Nowhere did I suggest they were unTalossan, but that they held an important part of our culture in low regard. My reminder was an opportunity to make a marshmallow joke and josh Hool a little. But, give credit where credit is due Talossapolia is a remarkable achievement.

Well, I am very sorry that anyone in any Talossan cultural tradition ever got the impression that my party held the GTA and that "important part of our culture" in low regard. I am not sure how such an impression could have been given, but I apologise that somehow that was — or, for all I know, still is — anyone's perception.

Plus, I'm still waiting for the other big reveal. Yep. Don't worry. However, I don't want anyone to think that the RUMP is necessarily claiming any credit (or blame?) whatsoever for it. Just like TALOSSOPOLIA, what is coming later this week is a cultural, non-political thing. Something I'm quite excited about and that I believe will be very good for our nation. It's definitely not a RUMP thing; it's a Talossa thing. Hool

I can vouch for Hool here. Him and his team had been working on the project for quite a while, and was simply putting the finishing touches on everything for when Fiova became an official province.
