Even though Ron Rosalez has renounced, I would like to address some of the points he brought up, for the benefit of everone else around here.
1. Privacy Act -- there is no way that we could define 'privacy' that could possibly prevent Ben -- or any moderately web-savvy person -- from going to a PUBLIC web site and requesting (for a small processing fee) copies of PUBLIC real-wold records. Hell, since the U.S. defined these as Public records, there's no real-world prevention possible either. What one does (or attempts) with said records, we can -- and did -- deal with legislatively.
2. The best working definition of 'treason', in a Talossan context, I one I managed to coin a year or so ago, which probably should be enshrined in law. It was, in paraphrase, "Given that Talossa's resources consist of it's web domain and it's citizenry, any attempt to damage these resources or redirect them for one's own personal use shall be considered treason."
You see how this neatly includes sending email bombs and founding rival regimes.
3. We have no need of National Secrets. Anything we can't do in the light of day shouldn't be done, period.
4. Provincial Autonomy. They are to a certain degree autonomous as is. But they cannot be too autonomous, lest they in fact become rivals of the Kingdom itself, as happenned with Pengopats, and to a certain extent The Liberals, who were highly concentrated into one or two Provinces. And the Atatukeys are founding members of the Republic.
The present balance is quite workable.
5. Multiple Office Cap -- even though I supported in for a long time, I cannot now. It was just barely practical before the Big Split; now, with our lack of numbers, it isn't terribly practical. This is also why I prefer EM200 -- it divides power reasonably, and can be operated with fewer people if needed.
And Ron appears to have failed to notice that our Judicial, Legislative, Executive, and Royal bracnes ARE delinieated -- BY THE ORGLAW.
One of the Marcs, (Hamilton or Moison? Sorry, I misremember) pointed out some things regarding the Cort that I find worth taking under advisement. I cannot of course act until I have people to appoint to the Cort. And right now, most people seem to be declining offered positions. Maybe I'll have better luck once I start sending out invitations...
If there are positions any of you reading this feel you could handle, please email me gary.cone (at) netzero.net
