Regeu John, S:reu Seneschal, Membreux Estimats del Ziu,
As long as government has existed, so have courts, in one form or another, existed. Courts are the way that we check our governments actions, and how we punish crime. Courts are a necessary facet of every modern democratic nation. The people of Talossa have had to wait too long for the repair of the judicial system, and I ask for immediate action. As long as the courts are in disrepair, so too is our democracy.
We attempted to repair the courts by creating the Magistracy, which would serve as a sort of substitute while we tried to urge the Cort into action. However, with the departure of Owen Edwards, the Chief Magistrate, that plan fell through.
We attempted to place Sir Sam on the Uppermost Court to fill the hole left by Justice Metaria, but, when it became apparent that Sir Sam was not interested enough in the position to demonstrate his activity and interest, the Ziu voted him down.
Now we are at a point where our democratic process is truly in danger, and all the government is doing is sitting on its hands. We have at least one pending case on which we have waited months for a ruling, and some serious criminal cases on which charges need to be brought. This judicial inactivity needs to end, and it needs to end now.
So, now, there is question of what plan of action we should take. I think it is as simple as beginning the nomination process, right here, and right now. And so, I ask my fellow legislators to begin nominations for membership on the Uppermost Cort, to join Sir Cresti and Lord Q:
