This week, we will illustrate the translations of phrases submitted in last week's assignments.INDIVIDUAL TRANSLATION PROJECT ASSIGNMENT:Study these translations, and look up words in the Översteir (using the Talossan-to-English setting) to determine which Talossan word is which English word, if you cannot tell. Notice that some of the phrases are not word-for-word translations of the English phrase.
- ¿Qet isch la costa d'acest magazineu? (= What is the cost of that magazine?)
- Me piaçadra 'n hambuergeir cün frits es 'n glas da cola. (= I would like a hamburger with fries and a glass of coke.)
- Acest glhibreu fut trei intzereçind. (= That book was very interesting.)
- ¿Qet fäts-tu aici? (= What are you doing here?)
- ¡Talossa isch la naziun la phü cumpetens in toct l'ünivirs! (= Talossa is the coolest nation in all the universe!)
- ¿Dovestà l'oradaviert? (= Where is the bathroom?)
- ¿Quançeux d’ars tent-tu? (= How old are you?)
- ¿Quand menxharhent-noi? (= When will we eat?)
- ¿C'e'n ben restoran? (= Is this a good restaurant?)
- ¿Säps-tu d'iens þotel uncareu es netz? (= Do you know of an inexpensive and clean hotel?)
- Eu fost comprarh 'n camisa noua (= I must buy a new shirt.)
- Perf parletz-tu pü lint. (= Please speak more slowly.)
- ¿Come ziradrás't ____ in el glheþ? (= How would you say _____ in Talossan?)
- ¿Qi’st tu esqipa favorì da béisbol? (= Which is your favorite baseball team?)
- ¿Volt-tu ‘n cervieþa? (= Do you want a beer?)
For words you cannot find in the Översteir, feel free to ask me how they were constructed, and what their meaning is.
Add stressmarks to your text, whenever they would be necessary if the word were Talossan. For example, the word translation, which you might have re-spelled to tränsleischon would be stressmarked on the diphthong ei, because without a stressmark, the final syllable would be stressed by default.COURSE TRANSLATION PROJECT ASSIGNMENT:
Also, change all prefixes and suffixes in your English text to their Talossan counterparts, if you can identify them (using the prefix and suffix Webpages on KingdomOfTalossa.net). For example, the English suffix -tion in a word like translation is -ziun in Talossan, so you might end up with tränsléiziun when you are finished.
No assignment until one of the final weeks. Continue your group discussion.
