Senäts Votes for October 2009 As to 40RZ7, the Human Rights Day Act, I vote per. Seems okay. As to 40RZ8, the Changing the Age Act, I vote contra. A boy of fourteen founded the nation, and people it with those of the same age. If we see that someone of such youth can create something so wonderful, it beggars belief to think that those of the same age should be banned from joining. As to 40RZ9, the Freedom of Information and Privacy (Gov.) Act, I vote per. This protection of our citizen's privacy seems to be a decent way to keep our nation working while still being respectful. It was worked on diligently by its primary sponsor, and the final version he worked so hard at producing meets every need and concern. As to 40RZ10, the Senate Reform II Amendment, I vote per per. This long-argued amendment is nothing but reasonable, holding our Senators to the same standard as the other house of the Ziu. EDIT: Formatting

I like the colors ... hummmmm. As to 40RZ7, the Human Rights Day Act, I vote contra. We don't need it, every day in Talossa is a celebration of Human Rights. As to 40RZ8, the Changing the Age Act, I vote contra. This nation was founded by a young man full of "young" and "irrational" ideals. I wish age was a determination of maturity, it is not. As to 40RZ9, the Freedom of Information and Privacy (Gov.) Act, I vote contra. I honestly don't see a need for this Act. As to 40RZ10, the Senate Reform II Amendment, I vote contra. Let this end already! You do not need to take the Shepherd's crook and beat him with it. I urge my fellow Senators to vote against this continued assault.

The Senator from the alphabetically and overall most supreme province of Atatürk enters the chambers. Well actually a computer on a cart pushed by one of his slaves, er I mean "interns", enters the chamber. The Senator is voting via the magic interweb since he is currently on watch. As he is on watch, and since the booze would make the computer sad and sparky, he skips the bar and proceeds to vote.
Good evening everyone! Pay no attention to the person pushing the cart and possibly squirreling away some booze from the bar. Instead, please lend me your undivided attention!
Regarding 40RZ7 I vote CONTRÂ.
Regarding 40RZ8 I vote CONTRÂ unless all citizens who joined when they were younger than 15 are stripped of their citizenships and forced to immigrate again. Talk about an arbitrary law.
Regarding 40RZ9 I vote PËR.
Regarding 40RZ10 I vote PËR.
Thanks for your time. Have a nice Columbus Day (aka Politically-Incorrect) weekend everyone! Now slave, er I mean "intern": MUSH! And make me a sandwich, please.
The slave, I mean "intern", proceeds to stop swilling the beer and pushes the cart out of the chamber.

An intern brings in a pile of proxy votes from the Senator from Maricopa (who is at his home in Texas, 'cause he has a family reunion this weekend), and reads them aloud:
"The Senator from the Sovereign Province of Maricopa wishes the following known:
"Regarding 40RZ7, the Human Rights Day Act, he votes PER, seeing no real reason not to. "Regarding 40RZ8, the Changing the Age Act, he votes CONTRA, because he doesn't believe it makes sense. "Regarding 40RZ9, the Freedom of Information and Privacy (Gov.) Act, he votes PER, because it's just a good idea. "And regarding 40RZ10, the Senate Reform II Amendment, he votes a hearty CONTRA, because... well, because."
Having read this, the intern runs back to the Senator's office, because there's pizza there and he's hungry.

The senator from Cézembre enters the chamber and approaches the lectern (again, as for some reason his previous entry and comments have vaporized).
In the matter of 40RZ7 The Human Rights Day Act I vote PËR as it is appropriate to have dates recognizing principles of this type so that perhaps people will at least ponder them 0.27% of the time.
In the matter of The Changing the Age Act I vote CONTRÂ as if it was fine for 14 year old Ben Madison on 26 December 1979 to be not only a citizen but to found the realm then it surely remains so.
In the matter of 40RZ9 Freedom of Information and Privacy (Gov.) Act, I also vote CONTRÂ - I may be able to support similar legislation in the future that is not riddled with spelling errors (at least in the English version)
In the matter of 40RZ10 The Senate Reform II Amendment I vote CONTRÂ - much as I have supported similar amendments in the past I think that Senators should have the same rights and responsibilities of others in the Kingdom, including a 3-strikes rule.
With that, the Senator flounces out of the chamber again.

The Senator for the bonny province of Benito enters the chamber booted and cloaked, only slightly dirty from the road.
On 40RZ7 The Human Rights Day Act, I vote CONTRÂ. I don't believe that people really have "rights" but that is a philosophical discussion I don't have time to go into at the moment, although if anyone wants to talk to me about it, I am quite willing. Hence, from that perspective, what we would be celebrating would be the fact that no one can take those "rights" from anyone, which is rather a negative celebration.
On 40RZ8 The Changing the Age Act, I vote CONTRÂ. Although I may perhaps be agreed with the author of this bill that fourteen is way too young to become a Talossan citizen, at least insofar as some people are concerned, I do not think that changing the age to fifteen would make much difference. Also, there is absolutely no reason to go against a tradition that dates to the founder of our country. I mean just because he isn't a citizen anymore doesn't mean we need to kick him out completely and everything that reminds us of him. Tradition is a good thing. One of the neat things about Talossa is the number of quirky traditions.
On 40RZ9 The Freedom of Information and Privacy (Gov.) Act, I vote CONTRÂ. Although I think I know what is meant by transparancy, goverment and privelege, etc., such inaccuracies in spelling cannot help but turn off a grammar ninja such as myself. Also, I do not see a need for this now. Legislation is necessarily negative and restrictive, so it seems to me that less is better. But maybe I am just an anarchist.
On 40RZ10 The Senate Reform II Amendment, I vote CONTRÂ. This is partially because I can't understand quite what the bill is meant to do. However, it is mostly because the whole point of the Senäts is that it isn't exactly like the Cosâ. If the two bodies weren't treated differently, there wouldn't really be much point in having two separate bodies now, would there?
With a sweep of black cloak, the Senator disappears from the chamber, headed back for the road.
