Senäts Proceedings Thread (40th Session) Fellow members of the Senäts, I would like to take this opportunity to first welcome our newest member, the Most Honourable Senator Iustì Canun of Maricopa. Senator Canun will also be serving as Seneschal this session, so proper formal address is "Most Honourable Senator" or the like. I would also like to welcome back Senator Nicola Casálmac'h of Benito, Senator Trotxâ Betiñéir of Vuode, the Right Honourable Senator Bradley Holmes of Atatürk, Senator X. Pol Briga of Cézembre, and Senator Ieremiac'h Ventrutx of Florencia. While unnecessary, I would like to remind everyone to maintain the same level of polite discourse and keen gravitas that we have always held. The Senäts is the upper house of longer-term and well-considered legislators, and we have a duty to our constituencies as well as our consciences. Since this is a new session of the Ziu, our first Organically-defined task shall be to select a Mençéi del Senäts (or "Lord President") from among our ranks. This is pursuant to Org.V.8 ("The Senäts shall, after every general election of a senator, choose one of its members to be the President of the Senäts to be called the Mençéi"). The incumbent in this position is myself, Senator Alexander Davis. All members of this body are eligible for election to this entirely ceremonial position. The voting will run one month from today, beginning on July 20th and running until August 20th. We will forgo nominations, and merely ask for votes. |

I vote for myself too. Hey, we may actually finish up this vote within the week if we go at this pace. Considering how generally this election takes almost the entire term, that's excellent.

Although I am quite certain Senator Davis would do a fine job once again, I am all in favor of continuing the tradition of changing Mençéi every new election, so I randomly (in memory of a wonderful party that looks slightly different now) vote for Senator X. Pol Briga.

The remaining vote, while certainly of interest, will not sway the outcome, so I (and I assume "Not It") heartily congratulate the Most Honourable Senator Davis in his continuation as Mençéi del Senäts
