We are leaving Monday for our big trip to Scotland, followed by (for me) a week at the Invermark School of Piping and Drumming, so I am going to be away from Witt (and the computer in general) for a good month. As such, I wanted to say my piece before leaving, so that everyone knows where I stand.
I've done a lot of soul-searching and spent a lot of sleepless nights the last couple of weeks. What it comes down to is this: for me, now, the country of Talossa and the Talossan community have been irrevocably severed -- the Kingdom of Talossa is the real Talossa for me, the Talossa I joined and the Talossa I want to be a citizen of, but the great majority of the active, creative population of Talossans that I consider my friends and who made Talossa worth being a part of are now doing the Republic thing -- and quite simply, neither one works or is worthwhile without the other.
So my days as an active participant in Talossan affairs are over and done. I will always remain a citizen of the Kingdom of Talossa -- I will not renounce my citizenship and join the Republic -- but I will not have any involvement in Talossan politics or the like ever again; I do not even plan to vote again. My sole involvement will be to continue to work with the Talossan language, to further its development and act as a guardian of the language and "Talossan language consultant" for any and all, be they citizens of the Kingdom, the Republic, or neither. Talossan is our national language, yes, but its use should not be restricted to citizens of the Kingdom of Talossa alone; it should be promoted and promulgated throughout the world for its beauty and expressiveness.
My friendships are much more important to me than any ideology or politics. Therefore, while I shall not participate in the further development of either the Kingdom or the Republic, I will absolutely be hanging out online with my friends in both places. You will see my name both here and there. I will not be made to choose between my friends.
I have spoken; it is thus.
Så vivadrent el glheþ Talossán, el Regipäts Talossán, és la comunità mondiál dels Talossáes!
