The Military Consolidation Act

WHEREAS our present military structure is unsustainable with our present manpower and

WHEREAS we should focus on quality rather than quantity and

WHEREAS the Marine Corps and Air Corps have traditionally had very few recruits and

WHEREAS our nation would best be served if the Marine and Air Corps were merged completely into the Navy, sharing a common ranking system and chain of command so

THEREFORE, the Marine and Air Corps are from this day absorbed into the Talossan Navy, with their respective personnel transferring their rank to the naval equivalent immediately. The Marine and Air Corps will continue to remain a vibrant part of the Talossan military within the structure of the Royal Talossan Navy.

FURTHERMORE, to effect this change in status, sections 13, 14 and 15 of statute 35RZ32 is hereby amended to read:


13 Naval officer ranks from highest to lowest, with stylings are:
• Amirál (Admiral) – One 2-inch gold stripe on lower sleeve or epaulette
• Comodôr (Commodore) Four ½-inch gold stripes on lower sleeve or epaulette
• Capitán (Captain) – Three ½-inch gold stripes on lower sleeve or epaulette
• Leftenanteu (Lieutenant) – Two ½-inch gold stripes on lower sleeve or epaulette
• Aspirînd (Midshipman) – One ½-inch gold stripe on lower sleeve or epaulette
14 Warrant officer officer ranks from highest to lowest, with stylings are:
• Prima Schturmaneu (Chief Warrant Officer) Two ½-inch gold stripes, top stripe double looped on lower sleeve or epaulette
• Schturmaneu (Warrant Officer) – One ½-inch gold stripe with loop on lower sleeve or epaulette
15. Naval enlisted rates from highest to lowest, with stylings are:
• Cunceláin Mestreu Prima (Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy) Three ½-inch green chevrons (point down), one ½-inch green stripe arced over top with red trim on upper sleeve
• Cunceláin Prima (Chief Petty Officer) – Three ½-inch green chevrons (point down), one ½-inch green stripe arced over top, diamond in center with red trim on upper sleeve
• Cunceláin (Petty Officer)– Three ½-inch green chevrons (point down) with red trim on upper sleeve
• Mastelôt Mestreu (Leading Seaman)– Two ½-inch green chevrons (point down) with red trim on upper sleeve
• Mastelôt (Seaman)– One ½-inch green chevron (point down) with red trim on upper sleeve
• Rescrusteu (Recruit) – no styling

12. Any citizen of voting age may enlist in the Navy at the rate of Seaman. Citizens receiving commissions as officers must be 18 years of age or older. Talossan military veterans who are under the age of 18 and who have completed one year of service and completed an Officer Training Course as prescribed by the Minister of Defence may petition the Minister of Defence for special exemption from the age requirement.

The Ziu creates the post of "Minister of Intelligence" who oversees the "Primary Intelligence Group" which:

Interesting idea. I'm eager to hear how military personnel will feel about this. Being in general a person who doesn't pay all that much attention to the military, I don't know that I feel strongly either way, though in general, consolidation seems like a reasonable move if we are, as you suggest, poorly structured now.

I don't think it is a matter of a poor structure, just one that is too big for us.

As for how the personnel feel, we have NO Marines, so they won't mind, and two in the Air Corps, only one will have a change in rank.

We only need one ceremonial branch, not three, and this paves the way for a Ministry of Defence that actually does stuff.

Actually, I don't think the Zouaves should be included - in that they are not intended to be an offensive military unit.

The Zouaves were formed to protect the King , Family, Household and Staff. They are a defensive Unit. When they are required to travel, they do so as the King's Bodyguard, and only as the King's Bodyguard.

The only true joint operations would be safely getting the King an and off whatever form of transportation he was availing himself of - boat, plane, or space shuttle.

Ok My first act as a citizen will be to sign up for the Navy. I bring with me twenty years of Naval experience. At least 12 of those on the high seas alone. But, I do believe that the rank’s insignia needs a review however.
I also am aware that T.M. Asmourescu suggested that our navy needed a senior NCO, before I was offered citizenship. Although I do appreciate that as a helpful leg up to citizenship, I feel honour bound to inform you all that my mother is from Denmark. Thus, I feel that historically speaking, as a seafaring person I should inform you all that I am tall, fair headed always keen for plunder and not should be taken for granted. I have tried unsuccessfully to have dragon heads mounted on the foc’slcs (for castles)(front-pointy bit) on our RAN ships without avail.
Historically speaking I will not settle to be the senior NCO of the Talossan Navy. But the Senior Warrior!.
This statement will take some clarification but at least i hope that I am on the right track.
I trust that my fellow citizens, including our current (if temporary Admiral) can point me in the right direction)

I hope that his was a fun foray into Talossa.

So have you really been in the Navy for that long? If so, that's pretty kick ass! I'm joining the (US) Navy as soon as I'm 18. I'm sure your word will carry some weight seeing as you have some experience.

I really don't feel that not having a Marine Corps and Air Corps is a good idea. As soon as I'm a citizen, and if it's ok for a 16 year old to join one of the branches of the military, I'll join the branch that needs recruits the most. I don't even look 16 haha. I'm able to grow a full beard! Spartan style!! That should get me some where...
