I change my vote to UC now better understanding the meaning of the VOC as it is meant to be used.

[The Seneschal rises to address the Cosa.]
My fellow Talossans, I feel compelled to say a few words about the Vote of Confidence, now that this Clark has been completed.
As has been stated, it has been something of a Talossan tradition for even the opposition parties to vote Üc on the vote of confidence if the government is not, well, running the nation into ruin. (And, of course, I hope that this government is not doing so, and so I am grateful for any confidence that this simple fact might inspire.)
However, it is also true that in most parliamentary governments elsewhere in the world, it is de rigeur for the opposition parties (who are not in coälition with the majority, of course) to vote NO on a vote of confidence. After all, if a party believes that it could run the nation better than could the party-in-power (and any self-respecting party calling itself an "opposition" should indeed feel this way), then such a party should, by all rights, do all it can to cause the current government to topple and a new election to be hastened.
As the Prime Minister, therefore, I wish to say that I have no problem at all with any NON votes cast by the opposition party or parties in any vote of confidence. I consider such votes to be the right if not the duty of the loyal opposition, and a statement, in fact, of these parties' confidence in themselves.
What I will say, though, is that I would appreciate it if any NON votes would be accompanied by a criticism of the government, such that we, as a nation, can always help each other to serve our King and Kingdom better. And when I ask that the criticism be of the government, I mean it -- any problem with or criticism of the Ziu, the Senate, the Cosa, the Cort, or any of the offices of the Royal Household (including and especially the Secretary of State) is no reason to vote NON on the VOC. The Vote of Confidence is a vote of confidence in me, your Prime Minister, and in all of the Cabinet Ministers who I have assembled around me. Criticism of the job that any or all of these ministers (or myself) are doing should (I would ask) accompany any vote of NON on the VOC, and even should the VOC pass, I pledge that as your Prime Minister I will do my utmost to address any and all concerns and criticisms leveled by all Cosa members against this government.
I thank the Cosa for their time, and I yield the floor.
[The Seneschal calls for a drink.]

I think we should all really give respect to Caligula, who we should count as a major progenitor of our great tradition that opposition legislators should feel so in awe of the divine presence of the Imperator (and John does have a divine something to him!) that they voted in favour of his retention, year after year (until those brutish army louts went and ruined it with that assassination business) despite their opposition to his policies and beliefs.
Zooks, zooks, zooks, etc.

King John has set up the greatest deterrent to anyone thinking of separating King Jon from the the Throne.
It's called:
Prince Patrick.
