My idea is that we stick a paypal donation link up on the site so that anyone can donate electronically at anytime. The person that recieves these funds should be the Burgermeister of Inland Revenue and I also think he should be audited periodically.
The funds shall go to various Talossan projects -

I like the idea and believe many citizens would have no problem with donating to the cause. Geoff says he will mail a Guinness and Patrick has stated that he will tithe on his "revenue" as well... "One for me, one for me, one for you..."
Seriously though, I would gladly donate money to help. I can see how a very little from those who can assist could go a very long way.
I am against the audit concept only because I am sure the Burgermeister would make every effort to ensure that reports on the account would be published periodically to whomever needed to see it. We are honorable men and women here and besides "audit" sounds so ominous and seeing as how I don't imagine we would amass tremendous wealth through a Talossan Paypal account, this oversight might prove unnecessary.
Other than the audit I am FOR IT.
Good idea Ups!

Another problem though is you need a bank account to take money from and some of us who are unable because of their bank they save at. Mine is california based so you need $300 to open one which i can't get enough because of other things I need to pay for at school.

I hear you Evan. The Paypal system is set up so you can safely transfer funds electronically from your bank account to another. The sender provides account and routing numbers to the sytem, who then acts as an intermediary between the sender and the receiver. This system is commonly used for Ebay and Overstock transactions and is widely considered to be respectable and secure.
Whoever we sent the funds to... in this case the Burgermeister, would provide the account number (I believe we have a Talossan account already right...?) and then act as receiver. We wouldn't actually send it to the account number but Mr. Simmerman. He would never see our account number, just the sender's name. That money would go straight into the bank the receiver designates. Sounds complicated but it is actually quite simple.
I don't want to speak for Martuc but I imagine the concept was those who could help and were willing would, and those who can't or don't want to, certainly don't have to.

If you shop around there are banks with lower deposit requirements. But I think within the next year we really need to look into setting up a not-for-profit entity in Wisconsin that can do things like open up such a bank account. We just need a responsible citizen living in Wisconsin who's willing to act as its agent.
