The Organic Law Day Act
WHEREAS our Organic Law became effective on 6 July 1997/xviii, the day following the conclusion of a popular referendum to replace the 1988 Constituziun therewith, and;
WHEREAS this upcoming 6 July (2007/xxviii) marks the decennial of the adoption of the Organic Law, and;
WHEREAS such an important anniversary is deserving of solemn observation, and;
WHEREAS the 1997 Organic Law is now Talossa's longest-serving constitution, surpassing the 1988 Constituziun by nearly a year, and;
WHEREAS Talossa is a nation under the rule of law, and a holiday encouraging its citizens to reflect on our most fundamental law would foster civic virtue, public-mindedness, and patriotic spirit in our Kingdom, now;
THEREFORE His Majesty, the Senäts, and the Cosâ, in the Ziu assembled, hereby enact that:
1. The date 6 July shall hereafter be observed as a Talossan National Holiday, to be known as "Organic Law Day."
2. Because Organic Law Day is an occasion as deserving of a fireworks display as King Robert I's birthday (2 July), but having two separate fireworks displays so close together would be an unnecessary burden upon the public fisc, the public fireworks display mandated by 6 RC 15 (The Official Holidays Act) shall celebrate both holidays together, and shall be held on a date falling roughly between the two holidays.

The good Justice has provided to some this following line of reasoning, which is impeccable: For discussion: As you may be aware, this year marks the 10th anniversary of the 1997 Organic Law. The current Organic Law has been in effect longer than any other constitution in the history of Talossa (the 1988 Constituziun survived for just under nine years). Recent historical research (initiated by our Royal Archives, under the direction of S:reu Nanamavéu) reveals that the actual date of the OrgLaw's decennial is 6 July. This date is cause for celebration. Talossa has quite a few national holidays already, but I think our fundamental law is important enough for one more. With that in mind I have drawn up a proposed piece of legislation, to hopefully be hoppered in time to make it on the June Clark (so it would be passed and in effect in time for 6 July).
Current law states that the fireworks display must be held sometime during the week after King Robert I's birthday (2 July), which is broader. In actual practice, however, the mandated waterfront fireworks display *has* always happened (I believe without exception) to be held on 3, 4, or 5 July. So this change should not result in any disruption of the celebratory habits of our Cestoûrs. C. M. Siervicül

Hurrah! To parody a fairly well-known quote: I love holidays. Fireworks all round.
One question: it says "6 RC 15". Is that meant to be "RZ"? Or does that mean something I'm not aware of?

One question: it says "6 RC 15". Is that meant to be "RZ"? Or does that mean something I'm not aware of? In this case, C stands for Cosâ. At that time, the Senäts did not exist, having been abolished the previous year (1986) and not restored until 1995. In its original incarnation and 1995 reincarnation, the Senäts was appointed by the King. Not until the 1997 Organic Law did Talossa have an elected Senäts. Another reason for some of us to celebrate!
