I, Philip Mungai, humbly and respectfully ask that the College of Arms provide me with a coat of arms.
As far as design, I would like one half to have a moon over a river and the other a sun over a river to symbolize the dawning of new days evermore.
Please feel free to ask any questions for clarification.
Thank you.

DO you have a favorite colour?
When you say "half" - which half are you suggesting?
Is it the same river?
What phase is your moon in?
What is the average weight of an African swallow?

1. I was thinking of a gold background.
2. left and right halves.
3. The same river divided by a skinny solid black line in the center of the shield running vertically.
4. Left moon wans... right moon is waxing.
5. About 30 grams.

wait...wait...
You have two moons showing there.
And that makes a full moon.
Rather "RUMP"ish, if you ask me.

We could do two moon halves one on each side maybe?

ok, time to deconstruct for a moment... www.kingdomoftalossa.net/index.cgi?lingo=&page=ArmsRulesSo, the background of the COA is gold. Our base is metal (The metals are argent and or (white/silver and yellow/gold). A river is a wavy line, usually running across the field. We can't really split it up. Which runs us afoul of this: "I. 4. d. Contrast of divided elements 1. Elements evenly divided into two parts, or into four parts per saltire or quarterly may use any two tinctures or furs. For example, a field quarterly could be composed of azure and gules, argent and or, or and ermine, or vert and vairy gules and argent. 2. Elements evenly divided into multiple parts of two different tinctures must have good contrast between their parts. For example, checky argent and gules is acceptable, but checky azure and gules is not. 3. Elements evenly divided in three tinctures must have good contrast between two of their parts.". Let's stop there, shall we? *because that probably made no sense at the moment (See, the College of Arms is really fun! Everyone should join!)

No sense at all there.
I'll let you hammer out all the details, if you don't mind.
Thanks again.

Well, basically it means you can't have the river running across the field, and a black line running up and down the field. Let's start with the easy part: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Division_of_the_fieldRemember: This is YOUR Coat of Arms- it reflects YOU - not what I or the College of Arms think is pretty.

if it is a sun and a moon instead of two moons, the division is pointless and, therefore not needed. As for the phase of the moon I have, I would say waning to symbolize the dawning of a new day.

Ok...
Then we are looking at a Waxing Cresent and Sun in Splendour above a wavy chevron ...
(awaits a stern whacking by the The Bartleby Pursuivant )
The former Blanc Wolf Herald has offered this, at my request:
"Azure a base barry wavy argent and azure, in chief a decrescent moon argent and a sun or. "
But this is just a start. You still can select placement, colours, if you want the moon/sun to have faces, splendor guiles, etc
