Name: Breneir Tzaracomprada
Request: If it so please the Squirrel King of Arms, I request the assistance of the College in designing and obtaining arms for myself and my lawful heirs.
Favorite colors: green, light blue and brown.
I would like to include a star similar to the one found on the Ethiopian coat of arms (to represent my family's ancestral heritage) and a palme d'or similar to the one used as a symbol for the Cannes Film Festival (to represent my love of peace).
I am currently a resident of Maritiimi-Maxhestic and leader of the LRT.

Well done, and thanks for understanding and following protocol. Monty Python must receive their due, after all. I am sure the Squirrel King of Arms will look kindly upon your request.

I am currently a resident of Maritiimi-Maxhestic and leader of the LRT. Citizen Tzaracomprada - Thank you for your request, which the College has received. The College of Arms is ever ready to help you develop a lasting and memorable achievement of arms. At present, we have several potential volunteers (Fellows of the College) who have volunteered to assist you with your design. As soon as the we settle a few assignments, a Fellow of the College will step forth to assist you. Please note that your request does present a two challenges: 1. The College of Arms respects the Imperial Ethiopian College of Heraldry of the Solomonic Crown, and all acheivements reserved unto them. Your request to use the reserved symbols of the Ethiopian Coat of Arms is problematic. 2. In 1996, the Ethiopian government indicated a new National Emblem. The Star included in 1996 is a pentagram, and in Talossa, pentagrams are restricted charges. For more information, please see: www.kingdomoftalossa.net/index.cgi?lingo=&page=ArmsPrecedentsWe of the College look forward to assisting you. Your humble servant, -- Jaune Sabre Herald, Squirrel King at Arms

I have read the description concerning the image restriction. I wanted to add that this star has additional elements which may be more distinctive. There are lines emanating out from the star in 5 different places and it is pointing upward. It is common knowledge that only a downward pentacle is representative of occult activities just as it is commonly known that a downward triangle is a symbol of gay pride.
But if this restriction stands then may I suggest a 8-pointed star instead of a pentagram?

But if this restriction stands then may I suggest a 8-pointed star instead of a pentagram? The restricted charges list says that inverted versus upright is insufficient difference. The colours of the Ethiopian flag, however, would seem to be a more enduring symbol of the nation, since (as SKA pointed out) that star has only been on the flag since '96 (and the version without the star is still commonly used in Ethiopia). During the imperial days, the star was of six points (and not used the same way). I don't see a problem with a star of eight points, although it might be difficult to draw if you want it voided and interlaced like a pentagram.

Thank you CM that is a wonderful clarification. A solid 8-point star would be fine.

Thank you CM that is a wonderful clarification. A solid 8-point star would be fine. Alright! It's tempting to try the Ethiopian Lion, but that's a distinctly royal symbol. If it looks like you're claiming direct descent from the kings and emperors of Ethiopia, you'd want to be able to prove it! According to Wikipedia, the Axumite Kingdom (predecessor of Ethiopia) used barley stalks as a national symbol. We already have wheat stalks on Lord Q's arms.

LOL, no. I can not claim direct linkage to Ethiopian ancestry I merely admire Ethiopian culture and love Ethiopian food so I wanted to pick symbolism from the country as an emblem of my African ancestry. But it would only be symbolic until I undergo DNA testing. I am enjoying this journey.

Very well - I'm not as speedy with these things as Lord Hooligan, but I'll try to put together a couple of draft designs within the next day or two.
