then coming around full circle-
"... I'm arguing for my race (yes, Jews are a race, it's true, and if anyone starts up about how they're not.... you're just wrong... deal with it). "
"Jews are exceptionally hard to classify because they come in many many variations."
How do you know you are Jewish? it seems like either everyone is a Jew, or no one is...?

I doubt one could say a Jew living in Israel is 100% semite. Take into consideration that most of them there moved BACK in the 20th century.

Mizrahi Jews having the best claim of course.
But what about Kaifeng Jews?

Kaifeng Jews are either converts, or EXTREMELY assimilated Jews.
Did you know there are Berber Jews? They actually are converts though... someone should make a Berber Club, that'd be cool.

Then Jews are not definitively an ethnic group, due to the large numbers of converts during earlier eras of history?

Actually... there haven't been many possible converts (if we exclude Ashkenazi Jews because they could go either way) besides small isolated groups of <1000 people
EDIT: The only ones I know of are the Kaifeng, the Berber, the Cochin, and the Beta EDIT2: I made a mistake, the Cochin are actually a rather large group of about 8000

Some of the Indian Jewish groups are unclear as to their provenance.

So I am Jewish because of my family blood lines. My family tree was undiluted until a generation back when my grandfather married an Irish Kennedy. Am I a Jew or am I Irish? My great grandmother has our family tree on the patriarchal side all the way back to the 10th Tribe of Israel, Naphtali. The celebration of Chanukah and other cultural days of feasting from my childhood also point to my family's Jewish background, yet I am a Christian first. My parents contemplated and qualified to emigrated to Israel in the 1970's. As a "Christian" my father was still enough a "Jew" so they could move to their homeland. Had they moved I would be raised a Christian in faith, yet a Jew in my race/heritage?
I feel this entire argument for Jew as a race or a religion is misplaced on this thread and a mis-direction from non-believers to deter the Talossan Christian Fellowship from forming.
There is nothing that I see in Talossan law (yet) that restricts or limits the rights of her citizens to participate in a uniquely "Christian" fellowship that choose to meet with in the online and offline cultural bounds of Talossa.
I would suggest that the Talossan Christian Fellowship adopt a simple statement of faith and begin a private board (or sub board of Witt) for discussion. Acceptance of the statement of faith would allow a person to join the discussions, all should be invited to read.
IMHO anyhow.

IV, I am certainly intrigued by the amount of backlash this proposal has received, and appreciate your thoughts on the matter.
It is a very sticky matter of deciding "what" a Christian "is", in terms of a statement of faith; but some basis of membership is certainly a beginning.

Yeah, I am not sure there is really any opposition (or much, anyway). If a hardcore atheist like myself is untroubled, then it's probably not a concern. Organize away

Simply put a Christian is an individual seeking to follow Christ's example with their life. An individual who is "Christ-like" or seeks holiness with their life.
Personally it is much deeper than that, however for our purposes here it should be made relativly simple. Thoughts?

Concurred.
That removes concerns about abstruse areas of doctrine.
I would advise a format something like:
Each month, a chairman (role rotating between those interested) posts/emails round a digest of sorts - a prayer chain for each other, where we can bring up personal concerns and needs, etc; a selected reading from the Bible and a guest commentary on it; a mini-article on some element of theology; and an open ended question to begin discussion, generally based on asking the members to share their Christian faith.

I would agree with these until we get the secret handshake done and commission a holy war against the free thinkers I think we will be alright.

As a practicing Satanist, one's such as myself always fear the political consequences of such groups. the TCF would not bother me if I knew for a fact that it would not influence people's politics. I seriously doubt you have anything to worry about. Happily, I have cause to more and more come to the same conclusion about the Kingdom of Talossa. :-) What a pity we could not all get along and discuss this sort of stuff with Christian luminaries like Miestrâ, Grubi, and Andy L. in the same forum... ...under a single flag ...as one people ...under one constitution ...one government ...one undivided nation once more --- ONE TALOSSA! Catch the Wave! I look forward to hearing about the excellent phone chat between John Woolley and Miestrâ Schivâ. GV Goodwill Ambassador GV

GV Goodwill Ambassador GV It is very well possible GV, all the republican's have to do is go through the Kingdom Cort and ask for citizenship. And if they were never citizens before, they could go through the standard immigration process. I really don't see a problem here. See, unification really is that simple!
