I am leaving tomorrow (Saturday) for the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I will return on the next Saturday, May 19. I may or may not have internet access. I will be the first Talossan ever to go to ISEF! Unfortunately, as part of Team Oregon, I will be representing the State of Oregon, not the Kingdom of Talossa. Just so you know: I am not expecting to win anything. My project is in a rather obscure area (myrmecology) and I already did very well at the regional level. It is a huge prize just to get to ISEF, as the competition is incredible. A lot of the projects are graduate-student quality. I will be away from my family for a week for the first time, so this is a very new experience for me. For those of you who want to know, wikipedia says: "The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair is the largest pre-college scientific event in the world. Each May, nearly 1500 students from 47 nations compete in the fair for scholarships, tuition grants, internships, scientific field trips and the grand prize: a $50,000 college scholarship. All prizes together amount to over $4,000,000. The International Science and Engineering Fair was founded in 1950 by Science Service and has been sponsored by Intel Corporation since 1997." The official website is intelisef2007.orgI will hopefully post pictures when I get back. Wish me luck! Sevastáin International Finalist

Good luck, Seb!
Well, no matter what your team name is, we're going to consider you the Talossan representative there, and we're sure you'll represent us well. How very Talossan, in fact, your field of study is. I don't know who else has noticed, but CRY, "HE BE TALOSSAN!" is a perfect anagram for YE ANT SCHOLAR, SEB!

Consider yourself the representative for us "down south", too. :-)

Hey, Seb. I hope and pray that you're not myrmecophagous!

Thanks everybody!
I am at ISEF now, and this is the coolest and most fun experience I have ever had! The food, parties and people are wonderful.
