Certification of New Witt

New witt has been certified:

I had hoped to get a lot more done before then, but sadly I didnt have the time and energy for that. Still, it seems pointless to postpone it even more.

(New) Wittiquette, while still under review should be considered in force and will be enforced as such.

Additional admins will be appointed soon and an admin board will be officially constituted later. In the meantime, I will serve as admin, so if there is a moderation issue please contact me. For technical issues and forum features, Lüc is still the person to go to.

At least for the next Clark I will allow voting and bill submissions here too (provided the forum is not shut down).

With regards to the Hopper, anything thats been hoppered on oldwitt before certification will still be considered hoppered at the time of its original date. However, all bills that have not been posted in the new hopper before April 30th will be considered removed from the Hopper.

New bills need to be hoppered on new witt to be hoppered.

Further changes to the Hopper are likely to be announced very soon.

Immigration
If a prospective posted on oldwitt before certification that still counts and their time is still running. Prospectives who havent posted on oldwitt before certification will now need to post on newwitt before their immigration period starts.

It is now up to King John to decide what happens with this forum. Personally, I would prefer it to stay open at least for a bit to provide citizens who have been out of the loop some place to land from where they can be directed to new witt.

I would also suggest that before the forum is definitely closed someone goes through the whole forum to edit all non Talossan names that are visible to the outside world for all citizens that prefer to use their Talossan name. (See the discussion here: talossa.proboards.com/thread/12919/ that was never really followed up on.) I could probably do that at some point in the future, but the coming weeks I probably wont have time.

Either way, this is all up to the forum owners.

I think the first step should be:

- a big banner on Old Witt saying "THIS FORUM IS BEING CLOSED DOWN. PLEASE MOVE TO WITTENBERG.TALOSSA.COM PLSTHX" or similar.
- (if possible) to shut down the creation of new threads on OldWitt immediately, and (maybe?) to shut down all posting here after 2 weeks, 1 month or something like that.

We, the coalition government, yes. We, the ones that are finally delivering on the forum migration project that was promised for years but never happened. We, the team that just gets things done!

If you're asking who exactly, then the answer is Miestra called the shot and I made the edits.

Look. We either finish this migration or we let it drag out for no practical or logical purpose. Far too much dilly-dally happens in Talossa. If a thing needs done, and we are able to get it done, then we are going to do it.

If John Wooley has a major problem with this then he can go reverse the changes or he is free to sue.

Well, there's no problem if there's an overlap between the team of admins of OldWitt and some Government ministers. As far as I can tell, the current Distain has been an admin for quite some time as well.

The current Distáin is currently on light duties due to massive extra-Talossan commitments, so the third-ranked Cabinet minister and I took the decision. If he has any problems, I'm sure we'll hear about it - and as Eðo says, the decision is reversible.

It came to my attention that the edits made earlier only affected the desktop version of the forum and not the mobile versions. In trying to make the same edits on mobile I found out that Proboards seriously restricts the editing of the mobile versions of templates/themes/settings.

Therefore, what I've managed to come up with is:
a) the desktop version of the site is closed to new threads being created by anyone (except SusaAdmin), and
b) on the mobile version new thread creation is closed to general members, but staff (mods and admin) can still create threads if needed.
