Election of a Mençei for the 53rd Cosa

Esteemed colleagues, in my role as Dean of the Senate and therefore Acting Mençei I am pleased to open nominations for the position of Mençei.

Pursuant to Rule 2, members of the Senate can nominate any Senator by posting in this thread. Nominations are open until a week from now (April 22nd) at the same hour as this post.

Should anyone receive nominations from a majority (5) of Senators before then, the nomination period will end and the nominee will be considered duly elected; otherwise, a Ranked Choice public ballot will be held between all nominees.

You may now nominate a Senator to perform the duties of the Chair as Mençei, if you wish to do so.

Wow, I am humbled by the amount of support. Thank you for your renewed confidence in me.

May I also add -- if the speed at which the nomination was accepted is any indication of the upcoming activity level during the rest of the term, we're in for a very productive few months, which I'm very looking forward to.

And now for the formalities:

• With six nominations, Lüc da Schir of Benito has been nominated by a majority of Senators and is therefore elected Mençei / Lord President for the duration of the current term;
  
• The floor will stay open on the other thread, should anyone want to say something. Y'know, maiden speeches from the new Senators and stuff.
