This is actually an old poem I wrote in 2012 or thereabouts but just found on my computer. I didn't remember writing it. It's related to Cézembre so I thought I would post it here. --- Poet Laureate Hic domus, haec patria est.
A fisher's daughter surveys the sea and Saint-Malo's majestic battlements, alone on Cézembre sand in churchly shade where those of old once kept the sacraments. Ruins, yet standing still and calm in spite of purple tyrants, and of time. When pulled by the arms of war, captured and rent in twain was she, unknown and uninhabited until Corïu and the King declared her free: Sovereign kingdom, freedom-facing; refuge point and hall of feasting, Her salvage from meagre desolation foretold the legend of the nation. From destruction and division came rejoicing, reuniting, reunision, Talossans to the ends of the earth rejoicing in a moment of new birth.

Impressive! Now you only need a tune to set it to, and you'd have a perfect provincial anthem.

I urge everybody with musical talent to try to make accompanying music. Otherwise we can instead of a provincial anthem, have a provincial poem.

I expect a Talossan version of this as well!

Oh dear... as someone from Cézembre who has written quite a lot of music, I suppose this is going to be my job! Hmm... now let me see - what metre? what key? <goes off to piano stool to think>

I tried coming up with a tune for the first two verses yesterday and I had used 4/4 and Eb major.

Out of curiosity, which ones did you pick (if you've done so already)? I tried coming up with a tune for the first two verses yesterday and I had used 4/4 and Eb major. I've not reached a conclusion yet, but I can fit the metre to 6/8 rather better than 4/4 ... that's a comment about me, not about you - neither of us is wrong! The key, though - for that I shall have to wait till I have hammered out a melody, and adjusted it to fit human voices (You can all sing the A two octaves above middle-C, can't you? ) ...um, you are talking about the verse at the head of this thread, aren't you? - this has only one "verse" (in the modern meaning of that word), but the Coronation poem/lyric does have verses.

I was just curious to see whether (or not) we had reached the same conclusions independently of each other.
No, I mistranslated what I was trying to say. I meant the first two lines, as a "verso" in Italian is a line
