A short while ago, the election for the 52nd Cosâ concluded, and while preliminary results are out, it could be a few days before Talossans know the final results. That said, the results for those seeking to declare a seat in the Estats Xehenerais are unequivocal: Éovart Grischun, Viteu Marcianüs (myself), and Chirbi Scherpa-Carriedo claimed their right to be seated and, as such, shall be seated in accordance with our Constitution. Upon the Grand Session convening, in performing our constitutional obligation, I shall immediately declare as follows: (1) In accordance with Article III, § 9 of the Constitution of United Provinces of Vuode and Dandenburg, as the first order of business of the Grand Session of the Estats Xhereais for the United Provinces of Vuode and Dandenburg, I hereby nominate Chirbi Scherpa-Carriedo as Premier; and (2) In accordance with Article III, § 10 of the Constitution of the United Provinces of Vuode and Dandenburg, as the second order of business of the Grand Session of the Estats Xhereias for the United Provinces of Vuode and Dandenburg, I hereby nominate Viteu Marcianüs, myself, as Presiding Officer of the Grand Session.

With all due respect, Sir T, while I appreciate your support, you did not assert your right to sit in this chamber, and as such, are not entitled to claim a seat upon its convention (see talossa.proboards.com/post/158144/thread).

How about adding something like "In the event the Estats Xhenerais fails to vote to appoint a new Senator within 7 days of a vacancy occurring, then the Premier of the province shall have the emergency power to immediately make such appointment sans vote; If a further 3 days pass without an appointment being made then the emergency power to appoint shall fall to the Crown." ?

I'm inclined to agree to that. Perhaps 10 days 10 days with 5 days?

I'm inclined to agree to that. Perhaps 10 days 10 days with 5 days? Yeah, sure. I don't feel strongly either way on the number of days for each stage. I would just like to see a mechanism included for the 'what if?' scenario.

Thank you Eδo. I, too, vote PER. The business has passed whether Councillor Scherpa appears or not. The bill will become provincial law. Viteu Marcianüs, could you provide the final text of the bill so I could copy and paste it over to the provincial digest on the Wiki? (Unless you wish to do it yourself, of course. Happy to help if required.)

And, congratulations. This is the first piece of legislation that the province has dealt with in years!

Thank you for taking the initiative- the text is how it appears in this thread. I understand Vuode is more English in the sense that we dont have a codified code like el Lex, which we arguably dont need.

I did not realize that the text didn't update. Nevertheless, because the two voters were in agreement on modifying language of Section 3, as well as the time, the votes that came after encompassed that modification. Hence, § 3 should read as follows -
"In the event the Estats Xhenerais fails to vote to appoint a new Senator within 10 days of a vacancy occurring, then the Premier of the province shall have the emergency power to immediately make such appointment sans vote; if a further 5 days pass without an appointment being made then the emergency power to appoint shall fall to the Crown."
This is the language and time that we had discussed, agreed to, and voted for, above. Sorry for any confusion.
