I’m curious really what people’s thoughts are on whether we should move to a more representative democratic assembly rather than the direct democracy we currently have. We could have a 5 seat council or something; thoughts?

And I think that’s the issue - not only do we have a lack of interest but we have also removed a big incentive in why people take part in the politics of a micro nation such as Talossa.

With respect, haven't we just been talking about how we need non-political incentives for participation in Talossa as well? Any citizen of Fiova who wants to start a political political party or initiate legislation can get up in this Assembly and do so without needing to stand for election. Perhaps the issue is executive rather than legislative. Perhaps we should be asking Gödafrïeu Válcadác’h as Capitán what his plans are to create work for Fiovans!

Sure, but I’m not sure how a need for non-political activity necessarily means we shouldn’t do something to get the politics of our province on track.

Anyway - I’m just interested in exploring the idea right now. I’m not ready to make a proposal at all.

And that in turn doesn't mean turning this chamber into a representative one based on party lists, which would be throwing away an important part of our Province's history stemming back to the Old Republic. Hmmm. How's about this. We keep the GA as it is but the GA elects a 3-5 member "Presidium" or "Standing Committee", by STV, to advise the Capitán and to discuss and introduce legislation? We could continue by indicating that the Túischac'h and the ProvSoS would have to be chosen from StanCom members.

... or replace the Capitán altogether with a 3-person "Directorate"?

I quite like the first idea, because at least that way there are individuals whose role it is to have some kind of legislative agenda.
