As this is the first town hall/Clark thread I've opened in Maricopa this new Cosa term, let me start off by saying how proud I am to once again be representing those who are citizens of THE greatest province in our Kingdom!
As always, I'm open to comments on everything, whether they be received in this thread, by PM, email, Skype, snail mail, what have you. Here's how I'm feeling right now:
47RZ3 - The Wittenberg Pre-Privatisation Bill: Although I grant that the Ziu has the ability to pass spending bills outside a budget act, I'm not sure that this bill in particular mandates any future spending, or for that matter, mandates anything other than getting MPF to perform a technical analysis of a possible migration of Wittenberg to another forum, whether privately hosted or contracted by another third party. I'm for getting some technical analysis done, but I'm not sure it needs to be accomplished by legislation. Leaning CON.
47RZ4 - The Articulate Amendment: The current form of this bill doesn't seem to be controversial, and I support some kind of moderating voice in the Cosa--and the Senäts--to advise members of appropriate decorum and keep debate from escalating too far. Probable PER.
47RZ5 - The Anti-Espionage Act: This excerpt from the bill sums up my position: "WHEREAS, it makes me uncomfortable that government spies could be among us now, unbeknownst to the general public, unaccountable to the people, and sanctioned by one individual..." Leaning PER.
47RZ6 - The Election Guidance Act and Amendment: We need to reform the Electoral Commission, and this is a big step in the right direction. Probable PER.
47RZ7 - The Cosa Budget Act: Let's get some coins! Probable PER.
47RZ8 - The Great Reform (No.1: Interior Ministry) Bill: I support the merger of the three cabinet ministries into one, the Interior Ministry. Probable PER.
47RZ9 - The Great Reform (No.2: Finance) Bill: I support the ideas behind this bill, but I echo a lesser concern from my conservative colleagues from the Cosa regarding the formatting of the bill itself. Leaning PER.
47RZ10 - The Organic Law Amendment (Secretary of State Protection) Bill: I see no reason why the SoS shouldn't be appointed by law, and if anything, it will create a beneficial vetting process for the appointee. Probable PER.
47RZ11 - The Secretary of State Protection Bill: I, too, don't want to have a whole bunch of ministers and civil servants giving meaningless reports to every incoming Ziu that eventually are glazed over because there are simply so many of them. Having said that, I don't believe requiring the SoS to report on the Chancery to the Ziu--a body, if 47RZ10 passes, that is responsible for appointing the SoS in the first place. Leaning PER.
47RZ12 - The Culture? Don't Talk To Me About Culture Bill: Hey, if Fiôvâ wants to have their own professional sports team, more power to 'em. Major League Baseball and our Maricopa Brewers will still be the best sports in the Kingdom, though. Definite PER.
