I hereby withdraw my name from consideration as Party Leader. Miestrâ, unfortunately, is right. I have not been on the game in being well-informed enough and in other ways to really be effective.
Many thanks, all!

Mr President:
Firstly, let me just second the nomination of Deputy Cuntainça.
But more importantly, I am about to do something that I hate. I am about to go back on my sworn word. I am about to make a liar out of myself. I am about to break the repeated commitments that I made that I would not stand in this leadership election.
I hate to do it and I hate to do it, because it will require stupid amounts of working, putting myself back on the frontline of Talossan politics where I had no intention to be. Our dear friend Carlüs was an ideal ZRT leader - courteous, friendly, able to make compromises. It was him who negotiated our party's role in the current Government. I could have never have done that. If he hadn't decided to leave us for pastures new, I would have been perfectly happy working away in the Ministry of Culture and representing Fiôvâ in the Senäts.
But we've lost Carlüs, and we need a new leader. A leader of Talossan Republicanism, that is, and by Republicanism I have the common meaning of the term in mind: less monarchy, preferably none. We need someone who can put this agenda squarely and straightforwardly before the voters. This is the ONLY way to avoid getting lost in the log-jam of moderate parties in the next election. The LibCons, ModRads, Progs and whoever else will be fighting it out for those voters who don't really stand on issues of fundamental constitutional principle.
But we do. That's why this party exists. This is not an ethnic party, a vote sponge for ex-citizens of the Old Republic. This is a party for a New Republic. Or, at least, that's the party which I want to be in.
You all know my negative qualities. To be frank, I stand on principle; I am easily roused to anger by what I see as dishonesty and manipulation; and I push people too hard. I don't have much patience for those who're not as committed and brutally honest and I am. Ugly rumour has it that the current Seneschál had to be persuaded that I would be put on a leash, or tranquiliser pills, before he would agree to name me to Cabinet. A lot of people will probably not vote ZRT just on the basis of me being the leader.
But I am a leader. I do have plans, and I do carry them through. I can delegate and organise. I can put a proposal and fight for it. And - as I hope my record as Senator and Minister of Culture so far shows - I can compromise with my political opponents, even the dreaded RUMPers, because some change is always better than none, and achieving things is far more important than winning elections or arguments (although sometimes the former is the consequences of the latter).
So, it's up to you, all ZRT members, all, er, 11 of you at last count. You have a clear choice. If you read the above, understand all my good points and my bad points, and you think that's what our party needs, then I humbly offer myself to re-assume the role of ZRT Party Leader. Otherwise, vote for Evan Cuntainça. He's pretty good as well. Thank you.

With the greatest respect to Evan, who has proven himself in Ataturk, I feel that the experienced hand of Miestra Schiva will guide us best in these turbulent times in our party's history, and cast my vote for her.
