Summer's the time of rest and relaxation. It's a time to recharge one's figurative batteries.

I'm already deemed recharged, at least in my professional environment.

I'm quite frankly bored with Talossa at the moment. I used to dream of the day when Talossa would carry on perfectly fine without me running the place, but I'm annoyed by the huge hurdle to change anything worth changing because it's all in the OrgLaw. Also, Carlüs, you haven't told me what I should do with the sash, mail it to the King myself or give it to you to give to him or whatever.

Yeah, but I feel pretty worthless if I'm not running things.

I understand - I felt that way for a while when I retired as SoS.
I embraced the "Emeritus" concept, and then went to work in the College of Arms...

Miestra, please mail the sash to the King. I'll send you a short letter to accompany the sash, if that's all right?

I'm quite frankly bored with Talossa at the moment. I used to dream of the day when Talossa would carry on perfectly fine without me running the place, but I'm annoyed by the huge hurdle to change anything worth changing because it's all in the OrgLaw. I'm not that disappointed (or bored, or whatever) any more. In the Republic, I always felt this urge to keep my fingers in it, because it was so small and fragile, and also because I think I can say without bragging too much, I helped to shape and sculpture it. Kind of, it's a relief that we managed to transfer it into the bigger picture before it withered away. Now there is just one Talossa, and I enjoy watching how it's treading on. No quick and dangerous decisions are required to keep this united Talossa alive, it seems, and that's a good fundament for cutting some slack and enjoying the ride. IMO.

I agree with your pounts about not having to volunteer and step up all the time just to keep the thing alive. That's a huge relief. I wouldn't have remained in the Republic much longer because it was always all hands on the deck and it wore us out.
However, I am disappointed having discovered that this is essentially an Internet club -- there is no real politics to speak of. People don't want change and they don't want political debate. I'm not dropping out, but I don't see a reason to involve myself either.

Presently I'm finding it comfortable that I don't have to watch politics all the way. In fact I got a little tired of politics a while before the Republic was dissolved, or more precisely, tired of political roles and offices.
Maybe this will change when the winter comes and I need a pasttime that is lighting a fire in my mind and underneath my feet, but presently the absence of politics (or my almost complete lack of interest in Talossan politics) is a feature.
This isn't to say that IMO politics are bad - I just needed a long, long break, I kind of got overfed with politics.
