I like it. And I'd be proud to co-sponsor this bill.

... WHEREAS it is important for all nations to officially adhere to an internationally recognized document which seeks to prevent human rights ... I'm sorry, but is it just me that is reading this wrong?

I have some reservations about Protocol I (which has not been ratified by the U.S. either), but otherwise this seems like a good idea.

I have some reservations about Protocol I (which has not been ratified by the U.S. either), but otherwise this seems like a good idea. I share your reservations. It's one thing to say "We are bound the Geneva Conventions", it's quite another thing to understand what that actually means and what is required to be in compliance. How about some more research please? What is a good source to read all of the full Geneva Convention documents? I do believe there was more than one Geneva Convention. Until it is made clear what we're actually signing on to do, my vote is NO.

In the interest of experimentation, I have just acquired a prisoner on behalf of the Kingdom. So far, he's suffered only a harsh finger pointing, but I'm considering serving him Spider Man Mac-n-Cheez for supper -- made with skim milk! Somebody stop us!

My legal counsel assures me that as I am not a combatant by our present definition, I am not bound to treat myself in accordance with the Geneva Convention. The New Texas interrogation continues apace.

Well, this law has already passed, as has the one I linked to. It's just that I realized there is an older law doing pretty similar things to this one.
