I'm doing this for the sake of stirring the pot.
Let's breath life into all the corners of our own culture as a Nation. Pengopäts is both literally and virtually lifeless.
There are so many things we can do to engage activity in Pengopäts and make it a worthwhile possession.

My fear is that if we decide to remove the tradition of the Pengopäts, then we will start to tear down other traditions that are "lifeless".
How many Laws do we have on the books that are 'worthless' ?

I confess- the point of this bill is NOT to end Pengopats. It is to stir the pot.
Pengopats is an irrevocable part of our culture, and is something I deeply respect. I may not personally agree with the land holding but I respect the tradition that it holds.
I wrote this bill to get discussion on Pengopats happening.
I think that we should give it a purpose. Instead of forsaking our southernmost territory and consigning it to stagnation in the bleak landscape of Antartica. Let us involve, somehow, the territory.

Well, we could visit it, but I don't imagine it would be very fun...

To try to find Pengopats a great purpose is to miss the point of Pengopats.

Guys we need to do this. If we don't, the ICE bill has no chance and becomes moot in the eyes of the international community anyway.

Flip,
Is it honestly your contention that it is our claim to Pengopats that is holding us back from international recognition?
Turkey laid claim to northern Cyprus and no other country recognizes that....does that mean they don't recognize Turkey?

No I'm merely saying it's a factor, or will be. Let's deal with it now.

What if the ICE Act fails?
If the only reason we are passing this act is for furthering the ICE ACT, then I am opposed to it.
Actually, I'm opposed to it either way.
As others has mentioned, we are not a signatory to the Antarctic treaty. we are not obligated renounce claims to Pengopäts.
We have a long and proud tradition with and about Pengopäts.
I don't want to see that come to an end.

No I'm merely saying it's a factor, or will be. Let's deal with it now. I will grant you that it may be a factor. However, some of the other obstacles Talossa has to overcome for international recognition include: 1. The fact that the US doesn't recognize our secession 2. The fact that our basic infrastructure is, in fact, American 3. The fact that the majority of our citizens reside outside of our claimed borders. 4. There are well, a butt load of other countries that have been standing in line longer than us. 5. We are a constitutional monarchy in North America whose monarchy is not linked to a hereditary monarchy of Europe. And on and on.... My point is simply that, with all of those things, do you think laying claim to a piece of unoccupied tundra will ever be a significant factor?
