5) La letra Ð non füt avolescu, ¿perqet fossent-noi riïntroduçarh-en? Es... ¿dove? It wasn't? Then why do you write "eda" instead of "eða"? Because even Ben spelled it "eda". EDIT: Quotes from the Scurznia Gramatica, Second Edition (1996): L'iens eda l'altreu (p. 33) L'iensâ eda l'altrâ (ibid.) Véu intzurar l'iensâ eda l'altrâ (ibid.) Eda l'iensas eda els altreux fossent irë (ibid.) ¿C'è për prendar eda mënxhar aici? (p. 54) Estarë, eda non estarë; ça, c'è la fragâ (p. 68) ¿Casâ mhe eda casâ thú? (p. 76) This is an extensive list of all mentions of "eda". On the other hand, "eða" doesn't occur once.

Because even Ben spelled it "eda". Right. The sound /ð/ is the regular pronunciation (allophone) of d between vowels. The letter ð is generally only used when the sound is phonemic--not an allophone of d, so the ð spelling must be used to properly indicate the sound. There are a few exceptions, like Eðo (which could be spelled Edo, but Eðo thinks the ð looks way cooler) and àð (which almost invariably appears before a word beginning with a vowel, and therefore can be and often is spelled àd, but still appears in the dictionary with ð). As of 1997, many of the occurrences of ð were in the combinations rð or ðr between vowels. But sometime before Ben and Sir Tomás left in 2005, the CÚG realised that /ð/ in those cases, as with /ð/ by itself between vowels, was allophonic, and thus all those words were officially respelled with rd and dr. But there are still over 100 words that are spelled with ð, typically next to another consonant or in word-final position, where d would not be pronounced /ð/ (or at least not invariably).

I'm thinking something like a couple committees that creates reforms regarding orthography, grammar, and anything that applies to either of those things and asks the other members and Ladintschen what they think, and if people say "yes!" it'll get put into practice. Elections of the committees and releases of groups of reforms could happen concurrently with national elections and clarks. Come isch acest à toct i tzara?

I would certainly be keen to participate on a Unified Orthography Committee if CÚG agreed and Cresti participated.

Ok, here's my idea for a plan: The SIGN will consist three of divisions: the Regulatory Division, the Testing Division, and the Output Division. Time will be divided into two month terms. The Regulatory Division will consist of two committees: the Orthography Committee and the Grammar Committee. No person will be allowed to be on both at the same time. The names say the purpose: the Orthography Committee will take care of how Talossan is written, the Grammar Committee sees to the grammar and syntax. There will be (at least) 3 members in each committee, and one seat on the committee will be vacated every term in rotation with a new member being chosen by the members of the Testing Division. Any member of either committee can submit reforms to their own committee for voting. When either of the Committees vote favorably for a reform a member introduces, it gets passed to the Testing Division, which consists of anybody who isn't in the Regulatory Division. It tests suggested reforms by putting them into temporary practice. Each suggested reform has a trial period of at least two weeks lasting until the end of the term, after which time members can vote (via Google Forms?) on whether they like the reform or not. If there are less than two weeks left before the end of the term, any proposed reforms will have their trial period during the next term. If the reform is rejected by a simple majority, it gets sent back to its committee for redrafting. If it's defeated by a 2/3 supermajority, it's thrown out completely. Otherwise, it goes into effect as an official part of the language. If a reform passes the Testing Division, it goes to the Output Division, which will consist of any person in the Testing Division who wants to help handle the outside world. At the end of each term, the Output Division will publish the reforms passed during that term in a publication ("El Xhurnal del Glheþ"?) on a yet-to-be-decided platform. Also, they will be responsible for maintaining the Liga à Cunfavulaziun da Talossa (LiCT). Members in the Regulatory Division cannot be members of the Testing Division, and vice versa. There are no age, residence, or fluency requirements for joining, and the only qualification for joining the Regulatory Division is an interest in the subject your committee is devoted to. Feedback, anyone? Marcel Eðo Pairescu Tafial, Magniloqueu Épiqeu da Lhiun, Miestrâ Schivâ, UrN, Cresti Nouacastra-Läxhirescu

I’d definitely like to be apart of the Testing division - It’ll force me to actually use the language and practice!
