No harm in asking their opinions, though, like M-M's last two Senators. In future, I'd recommend asking sooner than the day before the vote deadline. Oh, and are Senators allowed to vote independently of the official coalition platform? also on the latter I was endorsed by paritys not in the coalition... how would that work? Well, you were the candidate the Free Democrats put up for the election here. I'm sure they're not expecting you to turn your back on them as soon as you're elected.

I wasn't aware that the MRPT was not in the coalition, pardon me. Maybe I should ask for clarification to its party leader.

This was a genuine question, as in I was endorsed by all bar one party...

Oh, and are Senators allowed to vote independently of the official coalition platform? Unless they signed the coalition agreement themselves, I hope so. Senators don't represent their party so are not part of a coalition just because their party is. With regards to endorsements, S;reu Roibeardescu was only endorsed by the three coalition parties. I guess based on his membership of the FDA it could be expected that he would hold positions similar to that of his party, but his mandate in the end does not come from his party, but his province. Anyway, since the vote has now closed and discussion before voting seems no longer an option, I would like to repeat my question. Why did you abstain on the Democratic Amendment?

Well... to late now... guys if local engagement is going to be this low I may just start abstaing on all bills... I would technically be voteing how you want me to vote as you are apathetic towards it While you could have consulted with your constituents earlier (I tried to do so, but admittedly I occasionally forgot or didnt have the time to), a lack of responses does NOT mean we want you to abstain, and even if we did, you still have a mandate as an elected representative to make your own judgement. One of the reasons we have senators is because the people in this province don't have time to comment/vote on every bill themselves. This is why we elect someone, partly based on earlier statements, party affiliation, experience, etc, to make these decisions for us. Provincial engagement would be nice, but citizens are not required to represent themselves in the Senate, YOU are. Personally, I certainly don't hope that I wasted my vote on someone who is going to abstain on everything anyway, so I hope you weren't serious. Anyway, in the case of the Democratic Amendment, I suspect a large majority of Cézembreans, just like the majority of Talossans, would have supported it. But it's your decision to make, which is why I'm asking you for the reason for that decision. (I hadn't seen your reply yet when I posted this btw)

I have been having a bad time this month, coming of my anti depressants has been playing havoc with everything I do at the moment... A person struggling with depression and prescribed anti-depressants should not be using a depressant substance : alcohol. While sympathetic, I remain concerned about your health, treatment regimen, and ability to manage your own mental health care.
