I recently and inexplicably was honoured with the Order of the Nation. I'm still a little stunned by this great honour.
Afterwards, I looked up what the Colleges rules were about such things, as well as in Fox-Davies' book on heraldry. I discovered that in Talossa, a knight is privileged to bear a belt and mantling of the appropriate color, as well as a helm. Fox-Davies advised that it was the longtime custom for the newly-ennobled of France and Germany to bear a "visored" and closed helm, as opposed to the "buckled" open helm used for tournament fighting, but in England the custom was slightly different, prescribing an open helm in frontal view for knights while a closed helm in profile for an esquire (in either case, the metal should be steel rather than a peer's silver or royal gold). Divining by this research that Talossa adhered to neither particular tradition, but wishing to motion towards humility, I created the illustration that you see to the left: a steel "visored" helmet, affronte, with no mantling and a simple belt.
So I have three questions, then.
First of all, is my depiction of my achievement done properly, in a manner that is acceptable to this College?
Secondly, how would I describe the blazon? Previously it was, "Vert, upon a saltire argent a chessknight sable." Are the helm and belt added to the blazon?
Thirdly, I have chosen the motto "CONSISTE ET COGITA" - or in English, "Stop and think." Does anything further need to be done, to cement this choice?

First: The College has no concerns with the manner you have decided to portray your achievement. It is perfectly acceptable. Second, your Blazon will not change. Remember, your Blazon is how your CoA is described to all Armorers you may meet. It's a simple description of what your shield should look like when presented to others, or a rallying point in combat. The adornments that accompany your CoA now that you are Knight won't carry on to the Battlefield. Lastly, No - you motto will be placed under your CoA in the records of the Kingdom's List of Arms as is done here: www.kingdomoftalossa.net/index.cgi?lingo=&page=ArmsKnights(If, of course, anyone was updating those pages, or the Wiki that is....)

Updated. I have also added his entry to Burk's. The picture could be updated if you want it to be similar to the others and to add the motto below - just send me an updated one and I will fix it.
