I've been thinking for some time now that we could do with an official provincial sport for our fine province. I'm sure a great many of you won't see the point - if anyone wishes to enquire as to what the point of this would be, I would respond thus:
It doesn't have to have a point because it's just a bit of fun. Like a slide in a playground.
Now, I'm going to be championing Badminton as the provincial sport that we should choose. Anyone gonna contest that?

To quote an old friend of mine: "My favourite sportsman? Winston Churchill."

That's our favourite political sport.

Since, in macronational terms, I belong to a nation whose sport of choice is rugby, I would be keen to go for something a little more alternative.

I love it when the All Blacks lose because I'm the only cheerful person in the country. But anyway - the Republic's official sports team were the Milwaukee Wave Indoor Soccer. Any advance on that?

Badminton, I tell you! It's easy to pick up, and I'm not monumentally rubbish at it.
I'm surprised that Dav isn't championing archery, actually.

Heh! Well, I for one do not like rowing. If everyone else thinks it's a good idea, then I'll roll with that and be more than happy to propose a bill cementing rowing as our provincial sport.

Official sport and official sports team can be two very different things, I suppose. Good find, Uc!
