If Talossans could stop being so pretentious and get the stick out of their asses and realise that Talossa is a micronation among other micronations, but a more stable and excellent one, much would be won. I'm partial to truth and not very fond of self-aggrandizing chauvinism. I agree to the extent that we should not get indignant or angry when people call Talossa a micronation or demand that they recognise Talossa as a REAL nation dangit, but your reference to "truth" raises quite an interesting question about whether Talossa truthfully can call itself a micronation (e.g. in official policy statements or laws). It seems that part of the generally accepted definition of "micronation" is claiming to be something (an independent nation or state) that you're not. So what are you if you claim to be a micronation? Is a piece of paper that resembles a banknote but has the word "COUNTERFEIT" printed on it really a counterfeit banknote? It's essentially the old liar paradox: "This statement is not true." Is the preceding statement true or false?

It's essentially the old liar paradox: "This statement is not true." Is the preceding statement true or false? Now my head hurts. Bad, bad man. Graham Priest and other logicians have proposed that the liar sentence/paradox should be considered to be both true and false, a point of view known as dialetheism. In a dialetheic logic (also called paraconsistent logic), all statements must be either true, or false, or both. Since dialetheism recognizes the liar paradox, an intrinsic contradiction, as being true, it must discard the long-recognized principle of ex falso quodlibet. This principle asserts that any sentence whatsoever can be deduced from a true contradiction. Thus, dialetheism only makes sense in systems that reject ex falso quodlibet.

I note that when Ian and I became Talossans, Talossa still universally considered itself a micronation, and indeed, the leading exemplar of micronationalism. The increasing rejection of the term "micronation" in the 1998-2002 period for Talossa was all twisted up with the Penguinean matter and denunciations of traitors and suchthat drove Ian and I from active participation.
So while I understand newer Talossans' rejection of the term, seeing such rejection does invoke in me, old negative emotional associations, and I expect the same happens to Ian. So, yes, while we'll try our best not to be oversensitive, it would be nice if you also were understanding when and if we do occasionally respond harshly.

Hm. I wonder if it was particularly the Penguinean matter that corrupted the term "micronation". On Ben's Micronations Page of yore, the term seemed to be meant to mean "small and / or unrecognized nations", but the meaning changed when "micronationalism" became a more of less popular internet-based pasttime. Talossa (or Ben) didn't want to be confused with the multitude of ephemeral bathtubbias, hence the fine (suggested) distinction between the uncountable multitude of "micronations" and our unique "nationette".

I would like to begin the transition to Lawspace soon, if the scribes are amenable. This will be a section of the wiki that only the duly registered scribes are capable of editing. This is not an urgent manner, as only citizens can edit anything at all, but I think it will provide peace of mind in the future to those worried about the use of the wiki as our primary depository of such information. Observers of the wiki should not be alarmed if they see a lot of law pages being moved; all links will still function and no text will be changed.

No, it's not. It's been down for days; I've been trying to get in touch with the server admin.
