Yep, both under the statute law of Talossa and the SoS's declaration of your citizenship, this is your province.

This province, formerly Mussolini, was renamed Benito a few years back, in an attempt to dissociate the place from the Italian dictator for whom it had been named (our nation's Founder, Ben Madison, was a fan of, shall we say, strong-arm leaders, like Benito Mussolini, Enver Hoxha, and others). The name Benito was chosen, though, to retain at least some historical connection to the original name given to this province by its earliest citizens and rulers (and to preserve its Italian flavour...Benitians love their pasta!), and also to honour "little Ben" ("Benito"), the 14-year old Ben Madison who founded our nation. See Prime Dictate 38PD1, issued by Seneschal Me, back in the day. Hool

Sweet! So why is this thing called Bentito? Because people found its historic name of Mussolini a bit off-putting. Now, of course, that only brings up the question, "Why was the province named after Mussolini?" Because the teenaged King Robert I so named it. (I suspect more details are in the History of Talossa, to which I currently do not have access, but Ár Päts mentions Mussolini as "the King’s latest fave dictator" in Part 4, covering July-September 1981. There was rather a procession of these King's favorite dictator of the season in Talossa's early history.) EDIT: And I see the Baron beat me to the punch.

In truth the name Mussolini is associated with good and bad times in Italy he did stabilize Italy but he also brought her to a horrifying end when he associated with the Nazi cause. Of course he did great things for Italy like making thousands of jobs, uniting her people under him, and giving his people a new hope for the future.
