I would just love it if I got loads of responses on this one, please give me your input. Please, please. So, firstly I just want an idea of the kind of things Talossans would like displayed on a Talossan Profile. Obviously, things like name, age and province. I'm thinking current jobs, past jobs (bear in mind this is Talossan so far - so things like Minister of Culture, MC for the 40th, etc. What do you want? What information would you like to have readily displayed about your Talossan neighbours? Perhaps a political party history? perhaps ... anything. What kind of things do you think you up would end up doing with a Talossan social network? Would you make use of blogs? pages? some kind of grouping system? buddy systems? or would you solely use it as a reference tool now and again? also comments from people not into the idea please.

I like all of the things you mentioned, and I would also say we should definitely have headshots and other photos of all of us too. If we had a Talossan social network either replacing or augmenting Witt, I would most definitely use it. I've never been a blogger, though I always thought I could vomit a stream of words with the best of them, so maybe I would do that if people wanted it.

As I mentioned in another forum, I'm uncomfortable with having a mandatory profile created on my behalf.
Given a Talossan specific social network - I may - probably would - create my own profile - assuming I could limit or control who had access to it.

Given a Talossan specific social network - I may - probably would - create my own profile - assuming I could limit or control who had access to it. MAG The system that I am testing just now does that. You would have control over who sees certain things (public, logged in citizens, listed friends or private) and it seems to give these options on everything. Quite awesome: we can set custom profile fields if you leave it empty it simply wont be on your profile (the basic profile would be the same as we have now - ie a basic listing). Each profile field (if filled) can be set to varying degrees of privacy. Lots of flexibility to suit all. It shall be citizens choice (outwith any legal requirements) to make use of the extended profile fields and how public to display them.

This is an exciting idea, and I'm eager to lend a hand if the project coordinator has any need for an extra set of hands.
Would the individual "profiles" follow the format of some sort of interactive wall (i.e. Facebook), or an encyclopedic informational profile, (i.e. Linkedin, Wikia profiles)?

I'm waiting to see what the MinStuff is doing before going any further on this. Perhaps, you could help him out. He was asking for a deputy a few days ago.

Thanks for the recommendation! The office of MinStuff is currently listed as vacant on KoT.net; has S:reu Briga vacated his Deputy Minister position to resume the role of MinStuff, or was there a transition of responsibilities that occurred while I was gone?

Regarding the setup of the new Web presence (and framework) for our nation by MinStuff, things are progressing very nicely. Very nicely indeed. And you are right to be excited. It will be a while before anything is ready to unveil (honestly and truly, there is nothing, really, to see yet...but soon), but things are progressing very nicely.

I'll start off by saying I am not really involved with these forums so when things get pointed out to me i come check them out.
First off what system are you using to create this? Is it a premade social site or CMS Based? or are you building it?
Also I am all for having a social media site and can even provide the hosting. I am currently redoing the talossa websites, but that is a ways away for live. However if you'd like I can provide you with social.talossa.com so you can put the site up. If you want to host it on your own hosting with your own domain that is fine too.
Keep me posted. Send me PM"s if need be i respond faster to those.

The Minister of Stuff and I have been conversing on this via PM. Wheels are in motion on something. [the profile thing, not the CMS question]
