Allegations? S:reu Weckstrom asked if MC Edwards was the same one as in New Texas. Since MC Edwards appears to have drolly answered in the negative, to all appearances the matter is closed.

I agree with Senator Davis on this point. S:reu Weckstrom asked Ministreu Edwards if he and the gentleman on the New Texas website are one in the same. Ministreu Edwards having answered in the negative, I do not think there is really an accusation, nor cause for an investigation.

Fine. Then I am wrong. I guess if I ever get brought up on any charges merely saying "No, I didn't do it" will have to suffice. Thank you for clarifying this up for me.

I am 100% confident in S:r Edwards' innocence. I wouldn't mind a statement from an officer of the government, such as the PM, stating that either (1) an investigation is underway, or (2) the government has determined an investigation is not needed. That way, perhaps the matter can be put to rest once and for all.

Although I think there is a possibility for OTHER investigations that could come from this but I'll be contacting the government on my own with what I have in mind.

On the Principality of New Texas' website it is said that Mr. Owen Edwards is the Honorary Consul to the UK and Ireland for New Texas.
Website (under the contact-link: www.principality-of-new-texas.us/
I would, as a member of the Ziu like to know for the record from the honourable Mr. Edwards, if you are the same person in question?
If not, I sincerely apologize. V, Nobody is saying that if you are accused of something you only need to say "I didn't do it." But if you read Tony's request, he says he wants Owen to put on record whether he is the same person as the Mr. Edwards on the New Texas website, and if not, he apologizes. That isn't really a cry for an investigation or a demand for proof. It just seems to me that S:reu Weckstrom wants Ministreu Edwards to publicly say he is not a member, why does it have to go any farther? I don't think we should be a in a position (like France once was) whereby any citizen can accuse another of something and it is up to the accused to prove his/her innocence. And I just fear that if the government investigates every statement like this, we're kind of walking on a slippery slope.

I know I come and go in infrequent and unpredictable time intervals but has anyone given time to the thought that S:reu Weckström may be behind the "Catholic Principality of New Texas"- i.e. the creator, organizer, etc.
We all know that he has frequently pushed for micronational recognition as a policy of the Talossan government and seems to be, at times, very heavily concerned with micronations.
If he is the owner and operator of this website, he could simply hit "edit" and add something to get back at those he feels is responsible for his current situation. It seems unrealistic that the ruler of this micronation would contact S:reu Weckström, the former ambassador to Finnland, instead of contacting someone else- someone closer, someone in a higher governmental position, etc.
I truely hate pointing fingers, but it seems like a semi-logical arguement worth investigating and pursuing.

And I just fear that if the government investigates every statement like this, we're kind of walking on a slippery slope. Making a mere request is one thing, but being as it was coming from another source (in this case, New Texas's website) some type of investigation to ensure what Owen has said and many suspect to be the truth is true. Asking for that, I think, is not a far reaching request. If you came on here and said "Someone with the name Owen is a member of the Republic of Mount Olympus" and asked Owen if it was him, that would be sufficient. But if you came on and said "According to the RMO website, someone with an identical name as Owen is a member" it would require, in my opinion, some level of the government double checking. I would expect it if it was my name on the website also. So yes, in this manner, a simple "It's not me" has been sufficient. This is, of course, not the only investigation that needs to take place. I, for one, would like to know who is behind New Texas. If they are just picking names off of our website, why? Is it a "talossan" doing it. So my calls for an investigation are not merely to certify Owen's profession of innocence, but for more. You'll have to pardon me if I just don't believe what someone says because they merely say it.

As said, I welcome any governmental or independent attempts to prove my innocence - or otherwise! If I am a nefarious traitor, I hope someone can prove it, for the good of Talossa.
Incidentally, I will believe what someone says because they say it, if they're someone I believe is trustworthy.

Quick note to alleviate fears, Owen has passed a rigorous questioning of my jack booted thugs. All is well on this side of the investigation. Please, let this drop. Talossa does not officially recognize Bug Nations for the very reason this little bug should be ignored.

So my calls for an investigation are not merely to certify Owen's profession of innocence, but for more. The reason people haven't been more worked up about this is that we have a history with "New Texas," and based on that history accusations based solely on things appearing on their web site, without corroboration, have very little credibility. But you are right that there are other reasons to investigate.
