Upon extensive research*, I have determined that a Louis is indeed $1.50, not (as I said earlier) $1.25.
*And by "extensive research," I mean "asking Sir Fritz how much a beer costs."

Haven't we decided that a louis is symbolized by a script L and bence are marked by that weird squarish thing?

If only the Royal Bank and Post had info about this very topic....
Okay, I'm done now, for at least a week.
Sorry about continued delay, I had a dental emergency this week that I am recovering from.

Haven't we decided that a louis is symbolized by a script L and bence are marked by that weird squarish thing? If the amount is a whole number of Louise, you can use the ℓ symbol, like ℓ100. But if it's mixed, you use the ¤, like 5¤30. And you can use the ¤ for whole amounts too, like 7¤.

That symbol is the international currency sign, by the by. As intended, it stood for a monetary denomination when that denomination was unknown or the symbol was unavailable.

Working on this finally, will be done soon. I have not incorporated all the changes suggested here, specifically Dreu's #2 and #3 ideas. I left them out because no matter how I tried to word them, they added a level of complication that I could not be comfortable with. Mathematically, I think this is as complex as I can allow it to be, and I think some of Dreu's concerns can actually be addressed by crunching the data after it is in. I fully admit that the next Census will undoubtedly involve some revisions based on the experience derived from this one, and the only promise I make about this survey is that it's a solid first shot.
